Forget about Adkins being in charge of it for a moment, I'm sure I've no need to go into that.

What I feel ought to be discussed is the plan of action and how best to go about the overhaul and the recruitment to follow.

First of all, all but Long whose contracts are out shouldn't be having them extended. They need to be released. Can't be bothered to check the exact number but that'll get rid of about 12 straight away.

Then, some important points to remember about recruitment is that it's not about the money, it's about the player. You do not need to throw stupid amounts at it to get promoted from this league, as many have shown. It's all about the scouting and having a subtleness about it. Players in this league and the one below. Promising youngsters on loan from the Premier League. Not slow and old one's on their last big pay packet on their comforting ride down the footballing pyramid.

If we pull it off and storm the league, I'll publicly apologise about getting it wrong on Adkins. If we don't it's another 4 years at the very least in this league.

It's nothing but make or break time this summer.

What is this word "strategy"? Can you please define?

Signed

Unfortunately I think at least 4 of the side that stated today will start match one next season... Add Hammond and Collins to that then six of the current main first team squad will be in the plans.

We won't have the money to do much more.

I agree. It's also about the manager getting a squad to gel and to want to walk through doors for him. That's what we've not had since Neil Warnock went.

We need some more experience in the side
We also need some versatility
We also need someone to slow the play down a bit more
We also need some ordinary, slow, unglamorous, boring wage thieves that used to play in a reserve side from a higher division

This will keep some of our fans happy who don't think we have a right to expect any better.
We'll leave all that achieving something bollocks to the Leicester's, Palace's and Watford's of this world. It's obviously far beyond our capability to match anything that they can do.

This mess will take us at least another two years to rectify so I'd back Adkins at least until the Christmas period of the last year of his contract (as long as we see incremental improvements). The incoming/outgoing transfer strategy is the number one issue at Sufc. It has been the same for years. I'd be tempted to keep Long and Flo on a heavily reduced, incentive based contract. We should target players under the age of twenty five with high resale value. Lower wages and more transfer fees.
