Never had the pleasure of meeting him, but heard some great stories. R.I.P to a true Blade and a top bloke by all accounts.

Sadly not on the coach's tomorrow but me and my better half will be at Rochdale and we will be raising a beer to the leader .there was no better man

Never met Shred although I sit on the row in front and about 5 seats away from where he sat in the Kop.

We were at Crawley last year just after he died (brilliant from Crawley to mention him) and I'll be at Rochdale tomorrow.

Crawley were great what they did to acknowledge Shreds passing as it was only the day before the game
showed great respect

I wish I was going tomorrow and everyone has a proper Shred day.

Last week I was sorting some crap out in my spare room, and I came across a plastic wallet packed full of old ticket stubs from the last 2 decades and quite a few away tickets where I'd been to the match on Shreds coach.

He was a wonderful bloke, had time for anybody and it was always a pleasure to have a brief chat. He will always be warmly remembered by thousands

Wasn't it also his final game ,Rochdale away ? I know it was the final time I saw him with his usual 'Alreight' - Alreight Shred' and a mutual nod of the heads.

Was about to post the same, I didn't know him, but he was just along from us on the Tuesday evening and gone three days later. I felt disproportionately shocked and saddened about somebody I only knew by sight.

Sure his name will be sung loud and proud like it was at Crawley last year. Hope we do him proud on the pitch too which is what all he would be bothered about today more than owt.

Just setting off....Cmon you red and white wizaaaaaaaaards
UTB

Can't believe a year has passed, blades are never forgotten always remembered. UTB

You knew you were at a United away game when you saw Shred, it was like coming home on the motorway and seeing the Tinsley Towers. You just always assumed he was always going to be there.

RIP Shred, hope the lads going today raise a few glasses to him.

I wonder how his negoatiations are going with the Footballing Gods ? Surely, they will cut us some slack now they've met the Big Man.

They surely will. Shred will have turned up at the pearly gates wearing his United shirt, and God will know he's already been through Hell.

RIP Shred.

never met you but frequently saw you at the lane and away matches i even squeezed passed u at rochdale away last year to get to the bogs ... little did i know it would be your last united outing
RIP blades legend shred

Didn't know him, but knew of him & knew who he was by sight - he was Mr Sheffield United, quiet, unassuming & passionate about the one thing which unites so many.

It would be be wholly appropriate if those individuals presently responsible for the stewardship of our club behaved and carried out their business in the same manner as Shred did.

I'll have a couple of beers later for you big fella - cheers

RIP Shred, went to my first and my last away game (and many in between) on your buses... You will always be 'our leader'

Nice touch from Rochdale to read out a tribute at half time. Wouldn't think too many heard it, the PA system was awful.

Anybody got the words "tell mi mam mi mam..."' I have an idea to adopt it as a folk tune, If nobody objects.

Tell me Mam me Mam
Im not going to bed to bed
Im going t'match wi Shred
Tell me Mam me Mam

Belted out in The Cockney Pride in the 70s

Dont know if anyone would object or not

I also remember him standing up in the lane social club prior to most matches and singing the following song to the tune of food glorious food

Ale, wonderful ale
Wards, Stones's and Tetleys
Day after day
I'm taking back empties

I can't remember the rest exactly, I remember odd lines that I can't quite put together

When I'm in the pub at night, I start to quiver,
Go to the toilet and pee like a river!

(Along those lines I think)
