I cannot believe how so many on here are advocating giving Mr Adkins any money in the close season to start re-building !!
He is part of the problem, a YES man who despite his previous CV is not very effective at all - he comes to a triumphant call of 'Best Manager outside the Premier League' and has converted the team from failing in the play off semi final to fighting relegation in just eight months. Whilst we all acknowledge that the board is useless this man has failed in his remit ! Last year following the defeat at Swindon Mr Clough admitted with a centre back and striker we could win promotion this season - the board sacked him and installed Mr Adkins who seems to have no idea of how to stop the rot - his motivational skills appear non existant and I for one am sick and tired of his ramblings of an interview following and preceding any games - Whilst WHF loves his every word he has not delivered and if he has put all his faith in a washed up excuse of a midfielder that is probably 'stealing' thousands of £ pounds from the club via a weekly wage then I believe it is time to say Goodbye !
The Board and Management of this great club is pathetic !!!

We're not doing as well as we would all like us to do but I would hardly say we're fighting relegation.

Problem is who would take the poison chalice?

Got to give him his fair chance at feckin it up like past bunch have

However I do agree with your doubts about ADkins because I am not entirely convinced by him at all. I think he needs to stop playing Hammond for a start. Why basham was took off yesterday and Hammond left on I found astounding!

He goes on about only signing players who would definitely improve us like we are such a good team but I'm sure there are plenty of players who we could afford that would improve us. He seems to be arrogant in his approach to transfers and not good at adapting to situations. Why we chased Dan burn for 2 transfer windows I have no idea....

Basham was taken off injured last week ,he was also the biggest cause of our defeat yesterday ,as much as I like him.

I'd still rather have him on the pitch for his mobility than Hammond who was also on a yellow.

If Clough had signed Edgar and Sharp in last year's JTW he might even have achieved it a season early! He knew where our problems were, but failed to address them.
Unfortunately it appears his successor is going the same way...

based on yesterday's performance he was far worse than Hammond (who was also poor). right decision to take him off

I wasn't overly impressed by morsy but I was impressed by that little ginger kid they had playing whoever that was

How do you know he is a yes man? His interview of RS last night would suggest there are issues above him.

As for sacking him ? We sacked Wilson and Clough too early, sacked Blackwell at the wrong time/too early in the season (it should have been in the summer rather than 2 league games in when he has built his squad), and we asked Carver to step aside for Adams when performance wise we were showing signs of improvement,

At some stage the club has to stick with someone and give them a chance to build a squad of their own. This summer will give a manager a chance to mold a team provided the Board do not tie the manager's hands behind his back. He has made mistakes but it would appear that he has a squad he doesn't want and has had promises broken to him.

I wouldn't have sacked Clough in the summer and I think we should give Adkins some time to get rid of the deadwood and try and build. I can't think of another half-decent manager who would realistically come to us at the moment. Unfortunately,it wouldn't surprise me if Adkins resigned if the ownership issue/dispute isn't sorted out

Any decent manager wants to 'hit the ground running' in a new job. NA's period outside football meaning loss of contacts, lack of current player knowledge etc. has hampered him, but not as much as his 'giving everybody their chance'. It's taken 6 months and still he can't see what the rest of us can - that several players aren't up to the job. The JTW has gone and we can expect the same level of inactivity in this loan period.

All managers are YES men, that's how they get the job and keep it. Any manager saying NO doesn't get the job or is quickly shown the door. Nonsense statement to try and beat Adkins with that just nullifies your argument. We can argue forever and a day about his achievement or not this season, however constantly changing the manager isn't working, the very definition of stupid. Given his record he at least deserves next season to try and get us out of this division. His signings thus far are only average at best, but then again how does a cake taste when you've only bought half the ingredients (and the cupboard you've been given is full of out of date merchandise)?

As for the board, I've been asking for a football presence for years. I haven't decided whether carrying on with this lack of knowledge is either the height of arrogance or stupidity.

He was only out of work for six months.

I only dip in and out of the forum so I can't say that I've followed what you have posted for any real length of time, but have you been really moaning about Adkins for 7 months??? Since August?? FFS, talk about giving the bloke a chance.

I think its clear to see that Adkins probably was sold 'Game changing investment' when he came for the interview, otherwise why would he have spoken about keeping in touch until January then strengthening then? Now he is forced into trotting out the old 'we made some bids for players who would improve us' because he probably wasn't give more that ten bob and a blackies egg to spend.

The board are to blame, if we have no / aren't willing to spend any money, then Adkins is the wrong man for the job. We need a Warnock or a Harry Bassett in that case. I think Adkins is a victim of circumstance. I agree in part with some of the comments made by Fiery Blade, but to say that you have been going on about him for 7 months makes you sound like a fool.

The majority of his mistakes had already been made by that point and they've only ever come more and more to the forefront every month.

I thought Hammond had a good first half, but obviously in my own. His midfield partner changed twice in the 2nd half.

I am far from a Hammond fan but fairs fair

Its not all his fault, but obviously a large proportion is. If our players are truly wank beyond belief, why did we play really well against Bradford and Peterborough? Why have those kind of performances not been replicated?

Nothing to do with his partners, in my opinion. Hammond is fine in first halves, whilst teams do the dance. As soon as our opposition shift it up a gear, he's fucked.

Wish he wouldn't do the big "PR guy" thing.
Instead of being an apologist for his employers a little bit of empathy with the fans would help in his thankless task of moving us forward.
