I was impressed with Aidy White's performance for Barnsley this evening (except for the own goal) but wasn't convinced with him when he was with us. Likewise, I thought Andy Taylor was poor for us, but he has been a consistent player in a decent Walsall side. Are they two players we should have persisted with?

There's a trend developing here :)
I think Aidy White could have been alright for us, if I remember right he picked up an injury whilst he was on loan to us.

We have a strong record of dreadfully performing left backs:

White (Who, if I remember correctly, we played in midfield?)
Taylor
Williams
Mattock
Bardsley (I think he played at left back for us)

You've forgotten the worst of the lot, Jordan Stewart.

Bardsley played right back, usually while totally disinterested.

And that's why it will be a while longer before you get out of this league; as a club (and varying managers) you just can't get the best out of players, and fans write them off.

Andy Taylor has been excellent for us, despite missing games through his injuries, and the effect they have had on his pace.

He would walk into most League One sides...but if he's not good enough for you (or Cuvelier, Brandy, Westlake, Butler etc) then I'm sure you all know best. You stick to better, higher paid players that also don't perform.

Whilst you may be correct in saying our managers haven't been able to get the best out of them, it's 7am and all you can think about it going on another teams forum to post?

I always liked Andy Taylor he always gave it 100%, but he was injury prone.

As for the rest Barry,

Brandy - arrogant trouble causer.
West lake - nice enough kid but never did enough to make a shirt his own and looked poor.
Cuvelier - potentially a great footballer but has suffered a serious injury and not played.
Butler - I don't really know what happened, fell out with Clough and moved on without passing go.

As for Walsall I wish you well, a real football club with genuine fans (I know a few). But as for us fans writing off our signings, a tad harsh I feel.

Also the "blunt" comedy name, it is weak, predictable and unbecoming, normally the kind of poor attempt at humour practised by people from Barnsley and the ghetto of South Barnsley.

You forgot Gus Uhlebeek

No. Quite clearly players that cannot cope with the pressure and expectations of playing for a big club. With all due respect to Barnsley and Walsall, they've found their level.

Wouldn't mind been at Walsalls level.

They are having a good season and I really hope they go up. But the expectations of them as a club is far below ours. Some players/managers handle and manage expectations and others prefer to work under little to no pressure. It's the latter for Walsall which is a large part of why they are doing so well this season.

Couple more years down here then perhaps we should revise our 'expectations' ?

Left back has always been our achilles heel ,as long as I remember it is the weakest position to have a favourite ,even in our greatest team I always thought Ted was the weakest link.
My favourite Utd left backs :
Joe Bolton
Roger Nilsen
Paul Garner
Ted Hemsley
Tom Cowan

It's already happening to a certain extent. Don't get me wrong I don't think we are too big to be down here or anything like that. We are here on merit and as things stand we are nothing more than an average League 1 side.

We have the potential with the support base and infrastructure to be so much more though, and that's why we as fans expect to win promotion each season.

For me Wayne Quinn first time round and Jon Harley when he was first on loan.

I think the problems stem from the top to be quite frank.
