My theory. There has been some sort of boardroom bust up between McCabe and the Saudi's, leading to a mid season cull of backroom staff and players, as neither party are prepared to put a single penny more in the club.

I'd love to be wrong, but that is now the only realistic conclusion that i can draw.

Just for the record, if it is the case, i can't see it being much longer before Adkins walks to save his career after being sold a massive dud when he took over.

It's hardly news that there is no money. Clough was expected to get promotion and they let him loose with the cheque book resulting in losses which have swallowed up the investment meant to be spent on players who could get us up.

There may have been a bust up, but there was no money there anyway.

I think we've been planning for next season since the Shrewsbury defeat. I have no doubt the money is there for a rebuild in the Summer but it wouldn't surprise me if the Prince et al are also losing patience. We'll never know what influence McCabe's 50% is having on proceedings.

Problem is wiz they been in this league so long they've not realised you can't get out on the cheap, same way as we couldn't stay in the PL on the cheap.

Losing patience

I know, I was merely stating what the board said some time ago.

You don't need to spend loads to get out of this league but you do have to get the right sort of hungry up and coming players in who can play at the level we are at and will go on to play higher. We have failed miserably in this department for some time and unless we sort it we will keep on failing.

Our recruitment department needs to up it's game otherwise I could be writing the same post next season.

Somebody called up and said he bumped into McCabe today who told him that he didnt think there would be any signings today because they are happy with the squad we have got. He said all the players get on well and they just need to get out of this "damn league". The caller than asked about Dan Burn and McCabe said that he wasn't better than what we have got

Bristol C and Charlton both had a rebuild and were successful in recent seasons and it's clear that offloading is the current priority.

With the exception of Sharp, I've not been overly impressed with the signings that Adkins has brought in. Therefore I am not going to lose sleep if we haven't brought anyone in today. There is always the loan window to get a couple in.
That will also help next seasons manager, who won't be left with so much unwanted shyte when we start the merry-go-round next summer.

Dan Burn may or may not be better than what we've got. Is that McCabe's opinion, or the whole board, or managements opinion?

Seems strange then that from all the reports, Adkins has been chasing Burn for the last 6 months all for nothing and obviously him and his staff couldn't recognise a player if it hit them on the arse
