“McNulty is just a younger version of Tubbs. Similar in looks, similiar in build, similar in coolness of finishing."

Yes I can sort of see what they are getting at?

The likes of McFadzean and Kennedy can't even get regular games or impress much at a lower league. The latters case different due to injuries but these two will almost certainly be leaving SUFC in the next few months.

The side of the Youth Cup that was seen to the the future of SUFC has not really worked out. Slew cannot even get in the Cambridge match day squad. The likes of Ironside (Alfreton), Whitehouse (Nuneaton) and Harriott (Wealdstone) are playing beneath Conference level. Aaron Barry gone back to Ireland (Derry)

Long is still here but far from convincing. Only Maguire has gone onto anything

Interesting to see current u18's won 6 on the bounce and 2nd in the league. Not seen much of the Academy for a few years so be interesting to see who can push on from this crop. It seems like so many given contracts have not pushed on Willis, Evans, Hleh, Cockerlline, Banton, McDonaugh, Di Maio and quite a few more will all be leaving I am sure.

Imo this is just plain wrong about Long. He's displaced an established League One keeper and from then on been an important player for us this season - to the extent that in all the JTW furore GK hasn't been mentioned.

I'd like to see him continue to develop and become a mainstay of the team.

I honestly don't get why McFadzean is still on the books at Bramall Lane when much better young players have been allowed to move on. His little stint of first team action showed that he wasn't good enough in my opinion.

McNulty's demise at BDTBL has come around due to the arrival of a similar sized and style player in Billy Sharp. The only problem for McNulty is that Sharp is much better at doing the job.

Wallace always showed glimpses of potential but was never fit enough to force a shirt. For that reason this move should hopefully be made permanent

He has done ok in some games but he still does not convince me that he will be our goalkeeper of the future. Loved to be proved wrong.

Him ousting Howard was not major achievement. He got the place by default as the previous incumbent was making error after error and we were shipping goals. Long has had some decent performances but still has no real command of his area to me and his decision making remains inconvincing (Colchester goal away was his fault due to a poor error). The defence is no better and the communication between keeper and defenders still is a concern.

To me goalkeeper in the summer is a priority we need to upgrade. That and two good centre backs should be the start for anything we do.

it still amazes me that people pin their hopes on likes of Long/Howard, Collins, Baxter, Flynn etc. Players that have been part of a failure season after season and we are still pinning our hopes on them.

Long is out of contract in the summer and the fact no new contract has been presented says it all. I think both may be released. At best Long may get another year as back up.

Completely agree. I was never quite sure what he had going for him to warrant the contract that we offered. I have no idea about his lifestyle but there was a couple of unsavoury incidents I believe.

I remember McCabe "making a statement" by offering the core of the he FA youth cup team contracts as if we'd discovered beckham et al. I just hope we didn't spunk too much on tying down kids who never really looked that convincing - Harry aside, whom I would love to still have.

And this is a Sheffield United Footballing Fact is it?.......o_O

How would any of us know if contracts have been offered, discussed, considered. I can't see this being done on public media?

As always time will tell.

Thank you for your updates from all bades Roysta ! Your the only info we get that James Shield needs sacking on you in his place the young Tony Prichett.

Long has been perfectly fine. There won't be many better in league one, and he's only going to get better. He's one of the last players we should be replacing and considering the defence infront of him he's done extremely well.

He's better than Howard already.

Ok; should rephrase that the 'fact he has not signed a new contract'. If we saw him as an integral part of our future we would surely have tied him down longer term by now?

To say he is one of the last players we should be replacing again sums up why we will go nowhere. Do you seriously think he is good enough for a promotion side? The comment about the defence in front of him remains but we overlook neither keeper has been capable of organising the defence in front and communicating better with them. Too easy to always just blame the centre backs. Our continual conceding from set plays over the years has been as much down to the keeper as the centre back.

We keep hanging onto ordinary joes like Howard, Long, Flynn, Baxter, Collins, McEveley etc and we willl keep finishing miles off the top two.

We have an opportunity to clear 75% of the squad this summer and we have to take it. No sentiment. No sympathy or remembering odd decent game in 2 or 3 years for many of the above.
