In my view he's as lazy as Higdon, he's a big lad who makes little attempt to jump for the ball (Millers fans warned us of that) and his finishing is at best inconsistent. He can't complain at any stick he gets right now and he's lucky to be playing for such a big club as us when every week we see better players from clubs like Gillingham.
This I strongly disagree with.
He's way more mobile than Higdon - it's not even close. He also has way more stamina - that isn't close either.
Aisi the allegation that he doesn't jump for the ball is a misconception of his role, which is to make the ball stick not just hopelessly head it on to the opposition. When he gets the ball he tends to keep it and lay it off effectively - in this he is like Billy.
He isn't in the team for flick ons and losing possession - he's in the team because he knits things together. He had a great first half Satdi (and a decent second half against Bradford) and we looked good, when he came off and we looked pretty ineffective, as other posters have noted. This is not a coincidence - in his own way he can make us tick.
Judging from his body language the haters may well get their way and Sammon might be driven out of the club - but I think it will be at a cost to our results.
I couldn't disagree anymore than he had an 'excellent first half Saturday".
I thought he was the one poor player from an otherwise excellent first half display.
Does anyone else think he played well Saturday?
This I strongly disagree with.

The evidence supports that Adkins don't rate him that much. On the wages he is getting, you are absolutely spot on with this Rob.I'm still frankly perplexed as to why he's still at the club. I realise terminating a loan would annoy the parent club but we've done Derby more than enough favours with their unwanted players. Terminate and get someone else in on loan. This would seem so obvious so why aren't we doing it?

I'd be amazed if we can just terminate the contact. If so, we should - but I doubt it. Do you know otherwise?I'm still frankly perplexed as to why he's still at the club. As I understand it for a season long loan to be terminated all 3 parties must agree.I'm still frankly perplexed as to why he's still at the club. totally agree he has 1 good performance in 10 and we need better at our level. revell from cardiff is a strong target man gets his own share of goals and can play well in a front 2 ithink him and billy would have a field day ,but i still think untill we sort out our poor defence well always be handicapped

So in other words, it's next to pointless. We can terminate any contract at any time as long as its paid up in full.
He needs to realise that he's a carthorse, not a footballer. He's not good enough to be a confidence player, but that's exactly what he is.
So in other words, it's next to pointless.

I don't think you can, but before anyone builds another straw man to get angry about, does anyone know?I thought you could terminate any season long loan during the transfer window, however after 31st he's with us all season.
So in other words, it's next to pointless.

I mean terminating his contract would be pointless, because we'd have to pay anyway. Other than him not being on the bench (easily achieved), we don't solve the problem of releasing wages for investment elsewhere. Pointless. No its not pointless, the entire point of a contract is to guarantee payments over its term.
I'm sure that no player would complain about having his new contract terminated after two weeks giving him the chance to land another club if the manger felt he'd dropped a clanger.
Of course we can't afford it.
and that is why we are where we are. to get yourself out of this league you have to have players who are better than this league.. otherwise we'll sit in this league.. but mccabe doesn't really care.. he is still getting 20k in so..Most third division footballers are cart horses, that's our problem.
I'd be amazed if we can just terminate the contact. If so, we should - but I doubt it. Do you know otherwise?

It benefits Derby who aren't paying his wages, and would be stupid to allow us to terminate his contract. No idea, but you can normally terminate loan deals can't you (admittedly we may have to pay a fee of some sort)?
We must be paying the majority, if not all, of his Championship wages. Who does the loan deal actually benefit?
Us - Nope, as he's not starting regularly or having any great impact and we're paying his wages. We also don't play football to his strengths.
Sammon - He's not starting and we don't play a game which sits him. I've no doubt he'd be a lot more successful at another club in this division. He's hardly doing himself any favours in terms of a future move.
Derby - True, we're paying his wages yet they're likely no closer to selling him to someone
And that's about the thrust of it DB. Sad.We are stuck with Sammon. I am certain terms of loan were we gad him for the full season with no recall. Equallt we cant send back when we have had enough. His Derby career is over. His SUFC career is also as good as over. He has had numerous loan moves in the last 3 years and not once has a club wanted to keep him. He will sit on the bench for 19 more games before signing for Hamilton Academicals at the end of the season.
Colindufc@pilkin43There were actually still a few of our own fans who rated him a bit after witnessing a season of total shite.Off to Dundee United.
This boy's deluded!! But he doesn't know it yet.
Colindufc@pilkin43
Sammon is the sort of striker we need think he'll do well #dufc #dundeeunitedfc
