Had it cancelled it, got it back cancelled it on principal and cost, had to get it back when we went digital. Where I live we get so many conflicting signals a digital aerial doesn't work very well. Tried Freesat, worked ok but poor sound that they say they couldn't improve so had to go back to Sky basic package just to get a decent picture. Feckin hate em but it is a good product

Love the poll options :)

Got sky with sports but I'm on an amazing deal cos I cancelled the lot and they made me an offer that I couldn't refuse. Will cancel again when deal is up.

Had a Android tv box for a while now and running TVMC and wired directly to the router. Don't bother with firesticks either as they are wifi only and not a decent enough spec.
Another way is to use VLC player and Google 'Free 24hr IPTV trial' ;)

Foxy, please feel free to edit my post if stepped over the line.

UTB!

It's the only way. The bar stewards ignored me in the month running up to my cancellation date and since then, not a week goes by without a phone call or offer through the post.

Cancel, get yourself a decent broadband / phone deal elsewhere and purchase one of those (cough) nice TV boxes ;)

I try not to buy Murdoch products if I can avoid it. Never had Sky, never buy his papers.

I have seen films made by Fox, though.

I have long thought about doing away with all the televisions in our house.

Time wasted glued to the TV could be spent, making pickles and chutneys, sewing for the girls, hobbies and handicrafts, jigsaws, and playing board games with the children.

Don't have Sky, but in September I renewed my subscription to National Geographic magazine. The following week the scaly Australian fuck announced he'd bought the company.

I threaten to cancel every year. This time around they actually let me go.

I was paying £85 a month following my discounted period ending. I get every channel (barring the single pay ones like MUTV, Asia network etc.) 2 x multirooms and HD.

I was due to leave on 24th Jan. They phoned up and discounted the TV part by 30% but not the multiroom or HD part. I stayed.

Then I phoned BT to say I was leaving their Broadband as I was going to consolidate with SKY. (Was paying £42 inc. line rental for Unlimited Fibre). They then called me back a couple of days later and offered me a deal £19.99 for line rental and fibre unlimited for 12 months (line rental is £17.99 anyway, so £2 per month). They threw in BT Sport HD free of charge

I called SKY to say cancel the order. They then said they can't discount the internet but can reduce my TV package further to compensate. They offered me 50% off. I took it. 2 days later called SKY back saying BT had signed me up for 12 months and they had me over a barrell. They cancelled my internet order but didn't remove my TV offer.

So, long story short, i now pay £53 to SKY and £19.99 to BT. I now get BT Sport in HD so may actually watch it. In December my bills were SKY = £85 and BT £42. Saving around £600 per year.

By my reckoning, you're actually spending £876 per year. How is that a saving?

These boxes are not illegal, unless your streaming something you would normally have to subscribe to.

He;s paying £32 a month less to Sky and £22 less a month to BT.
But still needlessly paying £876 per year. That's like the argument our lass gives during the January sales. You're spending money, not saving money. And when it's on something you don't need, you're wasting money.

I think he feels he needs them. It's a bit of a pointless point to say "you are wasting money because you are paying for stuff I wouldn't pay for".

So if everyone cancels Sky, what will happen? Football is magically return the 70s, no live matches everyone playing 3pm on a Saturday?

If Sky go under, someone else will seamlessly take over and move the fixtures around the same as Sky do now.

I'm sorry, but pandora's box was opened in 1992, the only options are go along with modern football or watch non league.

Would never get the full Sky Sports package. I did last week try a week's worth via Now TV which was ok but pricey.

Now I'm Googling Kodi Android.....intriguing.....

No doubt, but I wouldn't say I save money in doing so.

But that's how most people talk I am afraid. If I thought I would be spending £100 on a train ticket to watch United at Southend and suddenly saw I could get one for £60, I would say I had saved £40

Unless sky moved it, then you would lose £60.

I enjoy watching sport too much to cancel Sky.

Whilst I think they shit on the Football League and fans, I wouldn't cancel it in protest - it wouldn't matter a jot to them.

The services they offer (Sky+, catch up, Sky Go) are really good and I wouldn't want to lose them.

Its cutting your nose off to spite your face though isn`t it??

An enjoyable moment ringing them up, and (eventually) getting through to tell them where to stick their Sky.
But then sat bored on a Sunday, watching re runs of Columbo while Man City & Liverpool are serving up a thriller.

Or you could get your arse off the couch instead... :)

It's a First World Problem indeed if you consider satellite TV as a need.

I don't even consider a TV a need. I have one, but it's not connected to an aerial. The only thing is use it for is the PlayStation and streaming the odd film.
