Clough came in at a time when United had just been thrown into the cell.
The bullets weren't in the firing squad's guns. They never were.
We hadn't been asked for the last meal. We never were.
Anyone after Weir was an improvement.
Clough was available.
He didn't save United.

Clough. Forget Wenger, he's the professional failure.

None of them showed up at our place when we needed them however. If he hadn't shown up there was a very real chance we were down. Takes something to shift both individuals and a team as a whole from losing week after week to winning week after week.

The Clash have become Radio2 friendly.
You can buy their t-shirts in TopShop, home catalogues.
Kids latch onto them, like The Pistols, Ramones, Zeppelin without really understanding the essence
of what they were about.

I liked The Clash when they explored and experimented with Jamaican sounds and influences.
But I was never a fan.

That's because people who were into punk first time around are in their fifties and sixties, exactly the type of listener radio 2 caters for. Face it, we're old.
I wonder what the 17 year old Jonny Rotten would have thought of the 57 year old John Lydon advertising margarine?

He needs the money now he dosent sell many records these days.
 
Clough is a weird one.

He did some things really well and in some ways I rate him.
However he did other things really badly and in some ways he was an imposter.

But he brought us some good times and good memories in his short tenure.
He seemed to be making progress but the progress was at snail paste.
One step forward.....one step back....2 steps forward....2 steps back.
Could work out whether it was NC at fault for our failure, sheer bad luck or the lack of backing by the board, although to be fair he did recIeve decent (for league 1) backing.

So he'll get luke warm applause from me but I'm not too bothered either way really.
 
In all fairness the Sex Pistols were like punk rocks version of One Direction, and Malcolm McLaren was effectively the 1970s version of Simon Cowell.

If anyone wants to listen to some classic punk, then I would suggest having a listen to The Ramones, Blondie, The Buzzcocks, Souizee and the Banshees, Sham 69, The Clash and Stiff Little Fingers, as well as some early Jam stuff.

OK. The facts.
Clough came in at match 14 (Crewe at home) we won and we were on 12 points. Fourteen games into Clough's tenure (Match 27, again at Crewe, a disgraceful 0-3 defeat) and the Mighty Clough had accrued a total of 26 points - that's 14 points in 14 games.In the final 10 games of that season, we gained just 15 points, effectively ending our promotion challenge and finishing seventh and 7 points behind 6th place. Clough's first game was on 26th October, 2013. He had just over six months to 'save' us.

I find the thought that Clough 'saved us from relegation' laughable. Instead, his inconsistencies cost us a play-off place.
