Anyone who went, how did Baxter and Flynn do today? I'm worried about starting with the same 11 that we started with today, there seems to be a lack of creativity. But were we any better after the subs?

Flynn didn't do much but Baxter got on the ball twice and played 2 excellent through balls, 1 of which was particularly good, but Billy was offside for both. He also played one that again split the defence but the keeper came out and everyone ran into each other (so good ball).

He also air shotted a great cross 10 yards out when he should have scored.

Basically he brightened up a poor game and performance. I want him to start but can understand why he doesn't.

So again he provided a mercurial display that created chances for him self or others.

I would choose this, for all it's inconsistencies, over the typical plodding journeyman types that proliferate at this level.

Stick with him, pick him and play to his strengths unless and until we get something better.

The same argument could be made for Adams. But neither are trustworthy or responsible when it comes to doing the job required for the team (though hopefully with Adams that will come with time- less likely with Baxter with the experience he now has). Both have that ability but not the reliability so for me, the best place for them is then bench and bring them on if/when we need to find a goal.

Not sure about the comparison with Adams Dane,Baxter has offered a lot more than Adams over the course of this season for me..asked to play in different positions,gets on with it..gets dropped to the bench,but doesn't moan,I agree his antics off the field haven't done him any favours,and he didn't deserve to walk straight back in the team...but my main point was,it Baxter that got on the ball at 3 down at Wigan and played a series of passes that brought midfielders and strikers into the game..a quality we have been missing in recent games..it seems that we try and get something going down the right with Brayford and Coutts or more often than not,we just hoof it up to Sharp and Done who up until then hardly got a kick,and we lose possession again..surely we're better than that mate,we look absolute garbage at times,and until we get a replacement,I'd play Baxter.

It's a disappointment that Adams has gone off the boil, but like Baxter he'll have something to prove to reclaim his place. I'd like to see Adkins shake things up a bit but a solid defence has got to be the priority. Swindon are a bit shit this season btw and we should be looking to win this one convincingly.

I wasn't there and haven't seen the game but that's disappointing, as I'm a big fan of Done. I presuming he at least drew their defenders away with him when he "ran about."

We know Done can be effective off the bench too, if we're chasing the game but hopefully that won't be the case. I remember last time we played Swindon at the Lane, he came on after a period of injury and was far faster than any of their players and had what seemed to be a decent shout for a goal disallowed. Him (and the Adams of last season) are the only real pace we have.

Agree on the pace, but not convinced by him.
If you are at the Lane Sat, watch him carefully, how many times he actually touches the ball, and when he does what he does with it.

Having said that, he knows where the net is, and gave me the best moment of the season last Tuesday at Wigan.

I acknowledge there are differences in style and exactly what they bring to the team but some of what you said also rings true for Adams


1 . Get’s moved about the pitch in different positions.

2. Brings a goal threat to the team.

3. Spends time on the bench without complaining (as far as we know).

4. Issues off the field.


I think they both offer the squad something but both are too unreliable to be regular starters for me. The bench is exactly the right place for bot IMO unless they can show more consistency.

Had 2.5 years at the club, 3 managers - all given him chances - not done it even at third tier level.......

Taxi for Baxter and NUMEROUS others come season end. Nothing personal against any single player.

Perhaps people want to spend a 7th year in the shit division? - sounds like it to me, because if we don't clear a lot out at season end the next season (6th) will turn into a seventh.

Completely agree. We have to get a better defence as we can then attack more and score more. I feel sorry for Adkins, he tried that but had to change it to shore us up.

The 10th position we are trying to shoehorn this waste of a shirt into. Cant be arsed to work for the benefit of his team mates ? Fuck him off. A couple of decent touches one game in 3 ,I really really don't get this loyalty to him when he has shown us fuck all and basically took the piss for 3 years. That's what I'd do. Play him as a deep lying striker. Only position for him in Adkins' preferred foundation. I'd want him to do for Billy what Keogh did for him at Scunny.
