  • bumps and bruises but expects all players to put themselves forwards for Satdi
  • Bob has started running, but not available next two games
  • Kieran Wallace is selection not injury
  • Scoogs has been travelling with the squad
  • I have to make decisions about who plays
  • TK needs to be playing - I think this means look for a loan
  • Q: Expecting players to move out? A: Wait and see
  • had conversations with all the players
  • things can change quickly and they need to be ready
  • Higdon? We've got lots of forwards
  • people have to come and ask for the players
  • had a good conversation with him today
  • the more who go out the better placed we are to recruit
  • expecting Hammond loan till the end of the season
  • I know what he brings, it's a very good acquisition
  • adds to the intensity
  • had to settle
  • team have camaraderie, spirit, and fitness
  • we have bidded for players
  • 16 attempts on goal on Tuesday against a very good team
  • Q: Need to cut out defensive errors? A: We score goals - in other words (I reckon), "Even if we do I'm not criticising my players in public sunshine."
  • watched Liverpool Arsenal and can pull holes in the defending there
  • they played at a fast tempo - this is what we need more than anything I think and we have done since the start of the season, Adkins did mention it in September
  • Billy gets hold of the ball well
  • plays well when he's angry
  • looks a massive goal threat
  • loves United - wants to do well
  • on the phone all day yesterday
  • busiest JTW time is the last two days
  • there's a business side that needs to be considered
  • some players we might have to wait till the summer
  • we are fit, strong, powerful and will score goals - quick doesn't get a mention
  • Colchester beat us here so they're a threat
  • it's the next game we are looking to win it
  • George Moncur? Players are linked to other teams by agents, journalists etc doesn't mean there's anything in it, doesn't mean there's not - JB has to ask NA has to say "No comment." It's the JTW Tango
  • (generally) some of the rumours are just not financially viable
  • Q: Is he their biggest threat? A: Whichever player has the ball is - or sometimes it's the referee
  • 1-0 to the referee
Good direct questions from Jonathan Buchan eg asking about individual players in detail.

Good interview, positive as usual & tenacious. Liked the joke, when asked about possible threats on Saturday at Colchester, Adkins saying "the ref".

Slightly concerned about the "might have to wait till the summer" comment, but let's wait & see.

As far as the JTW recruit goes we have been here before same comments different manager. KM gave us an insight into investment at the AGM, squad to big, need to move players out to allow incoming,, Half way through JTW one player out permanent one on loan Wallace, with the best will in the world I can't see Shrewsbury stumping up his full wages so hell of a lot of work to do yet.

Saying we need more tempo is one thing. Getting it is another. Getting it consistently is a whole new thing.

When we play with tempo, I doubt there is another team in the division that can live with us. Wigan, after their wobbly start, look to be the best team in the division but when United had tempo, we murdered them and came back from 0-3 to draw. Against Bradford and Peterbrough, we played with tempo in patches - particularly vs. Bantams - and looked a good side. Despite the defeat against Posh, I thought we were the better side and they simply got their tactical approach right though it gambled on speculative long range shots flying in the top bin. However, when our tempo is not there, we look poor. It seems that we don't start with high intensity and tempo, end up behind and then tempo gets us out of trouble - how many times have we mounted, admittedly not as impressive as at Wigan, a comeback from 1 or 2 down? I recognise that there is a balance between flying out of the blocks gung-ho and maintaining a solid back line but if we came out of the blocks how we finished vs. Wigan or how we did in impressive spells vs. Bradford and Posh, we'd have teams beaten by half hour in this division. Fitness is key, solid defence when the opposition break is just as key but I don't see why, particularly at BDTBL, we don't fly out of the traps. When we play with intensity and tempo, we're the best side in the division. When we don't, we're one of the worst.
