Was clearly miffed and shook his head. Seemed to word the word "why" to the bench. Thoughts on this? Disrespectful?or a show of actual botherdness that you like?

Why indeed. Fair enough reaction from him, whatever he did.

Disrespect would be to say something to the boss and not shake his hand, go down the tunnel bla blah. He didn't do anything apart from ask why he was being taken off, leaving Sammon to play up top. He was just thinking like a fan

See what you're saying, but there copuld be an argument to say that shaking your head and acting pissed off when its obvious the cameras are on you is a lack of respect for the managers decision. Devils advocate.

We were very deep and struggled to create something for Sharp in the box. It was also hard for him to hold it up as he was very isolated and up against two decent centre halves. It made sense to take him off and play someone with a bit more pace to run down the channels or even in behind. Sharp shouldn't expect to always play 90 minutes regardless of how the game is going.

Sharp and Adkins seemed to be having a respectful chat as they left the pitch so I'd conclude just frustrated to come off given he thought he'd done OK. That said, I'd have thought Adkins would have already let one or two of the players know that there would be a high likelihood they'd be coming off before the match, Billy, Sammon, Coutts and Woolford being the most likely candidates. And if its with Tuesday in mind, they should all agree with the logic

He was devastated, but he was the only player on the pitch who hadn't been able to get into the game. It wasn't his fault, it was simply that he was up against quality opposition and they cancelled him out.

You could see that he'd been thinking about bagging a winner at Old Trafford for SUFC. Good to know at least one of our starting XI gives a shit.

Didn't I hear somewhere Billy had to have an injection in his foot to get him through? Not unreasonable to not use him for the full 90 with Tuesday evening in mind....

Compared to Sammon, who wasn't being substituted, but then sat down to feign injury!
Sammon was acting on instructions. He had signalled To the bench that he needed to come off but they had already put the board up showing that Coutts was coming off. The 4th official refused to change it because the ref had authorised the substitution, so the bench told Sammon to sit down rather than just walking to the touchline.

I praised everyone's effort yesterday, Sharps just as much.
As Bergen mentions we weren't creating ANYTHING in the box for him. He was having to run the channels which both Flynn and Done are better at.
While I would have gone for pace,I can't argue with Adkins thinking in regards to keeping Sammon up there as a physically presence either.

I thought they all cared yesterday

They did indeed and it was great to see, I was merely emphasising that Billy is a lad who wears his heart on his sleeve.

Clearly our lads upped their game for the occasion, but it saddens me that they don't care about the league quite as much. I don't know who that lanky pale bloke playing for us was, because it certainly didn't look like the Connor Sammon I've seen doing fuck all at the Lane so often this season.

Spot on Bergen our game plan worked really well ,but our ability to stretch them was limited as we lack pace upfront and all over the pitch if the truth were known. This has been a long lasting problem as no recent manager has rectified this (our present one surely must solve this)yesterday that weakness let us down again ,can't blame sharp his strengths are in and around the box ,when he went off it was an ideal
opportunity for a pacey striker which we don't have. Are you listening NIGEL.

The players gave their all yesterday. One fault was the ball was not been held up by our strikers for long enough. We lost possession far too quickly and of course it led to the defence being continually under pressure (which they dealt with admirably).

Not blaming Billy and Sammon totally for this because it may well be that with a midfield that lacks pace we didn't give them the support they deserved. Having said that our strikers need to learn how to hold the ball up - one of the best exponents I've seen of this was Mark Hughes. Hold it, hold it for as long as possible until support arrives.

Finally full marks to the fans yesterday.
