Let's face it, we would have all taken 9 points from those four festive fixtures?

Scunthorpe was the only real gimme with the Coventry and Bradford games being proper 6 pointers.

We need to kick on now into 2016 and see if we can achieve anything, ok after that we are all a little negative but hopefully it is a minor set-back. We are better off looking at it as 9 points out of 12 in a very busy festive fixture list as opposed to a single loss.

Good OP. Even if we are turning a corner we can't expect to win every game and 1 loss from every 5, with very few draws would see us in amongst it come may, in my opinion.

Still surprised at how Gillingham & Burton keep winning and remain convinced that they will fall away at some point. Not saying we can still get auto but we can have a bloody good try.

For me it was the manner of defeat mate, not the fact we lost. The last goal, walking into our box and around 4 players was embarrassing.

Its about getting some perspective , and not over reacting , every team thats ever gone up loses games , sometimes out of the blue-
By all accounts the first half was good , the game was not bad but the result was bad.
Chesterfield winning 7-1 shows how unpredictable this league is

No point getting too down about it. We seem to be on an upward trajectory & generally improving, but without having (anything like) solved all our problems yet. Those problems came back to bite us yesterday, exploited by what is a very decent & slick offensive side & a surprisingly resilient side in the 2nd half.

We need to bounce back now in the best style v Wigan away - a totally winnable game, no need for any fear there.

(Of course, we get to stuff Manure & get van Gaal the sack in the meantime.)

How about you get some perspective next time we win a few games and dont compare us to man city/barcelona /chelsea etc ?

The way adkins has us set up will imo see us occasionaly lose games like this but pick up enough points to make top 6

So please stop telling us every embarassing home defeat is just a blip and digging up any team in sporting history that has lost and then gone on to be the mighty ducks

We have a sense of perspective ,we have had one for the last few seasons

Its you that needs one

We clawed back +2 on Walsall gd yesterday. Just goes to show,,,,,,.

The problem for the fans is false hope, we're all chasing this mythical points total for the top two and every loss is a step further away. 9pts is a decent return from the last 4 games but even if we repeat that for the rest of the season we'll still probably fall short of autos.

By all accounts we were unlucky yesterday but that's the 10th time we've conceded 2 or more goals this season, more alarmingly, 7 of which have been at home. That's the worrying thing, NA acknowledged the problem when he came yet we're no closer to solving it.

Adding to TGM's positivity...... What's noticeable is not one thread slagging the players and the negative way we played or fallouts about BOOOOOOOING. Why? Because we are playing forwards and not the old negative Nigel's backwards and sideways crap and we were entertained.

I am not sure I would call that "unlucky" Jim, we gifted them the last two goals by letting them virtually walk into our box (in fact he did walk into our box for the third)

We've zero chance of making the top 2. People need to get used to this.

We may make the play offs. We
may fall short.

We aren't going to have a 'big' JTW.
We'll let a couple of people go in the last couple of weeks and bring in a couple of faces that most will find underwhelming because that's what our budget will allow.

Unrealistic expectations for this season need to be squashed.

It's scraping the play offs or nothing.

Sad, but true.

The most frustrating part, for me anyway, is that this is the weakest league one in years. On paper we should be steaming ahead.

Last two posts sum it up for me
Dont want to sound doom and gloom but i think from here its play offs at best and thats if the players bounce back from yesterday and build another run of 3 or 4 unbeaten and carry on like that all season

Managers got his work cut out

We played reasonably well yesterday but would argue we were not unlucky. The fact is they took their chances very well aided by our poor defending whereas we didn't make the most of numerous good situations we found our ourselves in. We always want an extra pass or touch meaning most of our good football comes to nothing. We are like the Chuckle brothers on the edge of the opposition box, me to you, you to me with none taking the ultimate responsibility of finishing a move off. It is so frustrating when good shooting positions ultimately end up becoming poor crossing positions. Would we have taken any of the chances that Peterborough did for their goals.

Yesterday also reminded us of our various weaknesses. Still no dominating centre half, midfield liable to be exposed by lack of pace, no width and lack of a competent strike partner for Billy. We have improved since October and November but the damage is already done and 5th or 6th is the limit of our aspirations now and it will be a stretch to achieve that.

I would try to clear out as much deadwood as possible in the JTW and bring in loans to try to plug some of the weaknesses in the short term. I do not think in our position at the moment we can attract the necessary quality needed on perm signings and run the risk of signing more average Joes on 2 - 3 year deals. Better to have a proper overhaul of the squad in the summer whatever league (probably this one) we find ourselves in.

I have never compared us to man city barcelona or man city

that would be fucking stupid

we spend on players what their players spend on cars

Youre always doing it
Things like barcelona lost 3-1 in september and won the treble
Chelsea lost two games in a row and won the league
Man city were in div 3 and now they are in the champs league ever year

how , should we be steaming ahead , we only got 70 odd points last eason and have nt had some of our better players playing most of this through injury
theres no justification for any lofty expectation

He means if we had a good side

The autos would have still been on if we'd beat Peterboro. The gap would have been 11, with us on a roll.

As it stands, a 14-point gap is probably too much to make up now. We should make the Play Offs, and may even get to the final again

thats not comparing us to any of those clubs
its showing results vary , nothing else
we were in the prem but now we arent , is another example
Portsmouth and Wigan have both won the FA cup in the laqst decede and look where thery are
again a REFLECTION ON results
if you think Im saying we are the same as them thats your mind getting it wrong

still on , till we are 11 points adrift with only 3 games left

Mainly mate, because players who played out of their skin last season in cup games seem to have gone backwards. The team that let in five, but also scored five in the second leg against Swindon.

When Burton and Gillingham are in the mix for automatic spots, you know how weak this league is (or how crap our scouting system is, take your pick).

Its an analogical comaprison
A comparison by analogy
