A poor loss but on reflection...

Let's face it, we would have all taken 9 points from those four festive fixtures?

Scunthorpe was the only real gimme with the Coventry and Bradford games being proper 6 pointers.

We need to kick on now into 2016 and see if we can achieve anything, ok after that we are all a little negative but hopefully it is a minor set-back. We are better off looking at it as 9 points out of 12 in a very busy festive fixture list as opposed to a single loss.
Good post, however, I'm guessing that it highlights that the 'mini run' was papering cracks rather than being an upturn in form. We'd all love a run to take us to the play offs, but i think reality is that with Bradford City and the first half of yesterday being the only real notable performances in a half season. In many ways yesterday summed up the season so far.

This is the worst season i can remember in my lifetime, sure we've had relegations and seasons which've fizzled out, but generally its been a case of financial restrictions. We don't have that excuse. Of course in the past, the solution at this stage has been to sack the manager, but finally the club realise that isn't the way out of this.

The powers that be have put us in this position with not having the clear out we needed in the summer. Adkins probably didn't realise the problems at Centre half and midfield, Phipps and the Board probably thought it was all someone elses fault. The biggest failing is that in the summer, nobody on that board spoke loud enough or had the experience to know that we needed to change players.

I really hope, like you that we're going to go on a run, but we all know that Play offs is going to end one way and automatics will be gone completely by the end of the month. Time to rebuild and remove the underperformers and unfit so that we can let the talent we have grow again.

teams are only in comparison on the grass
size of gates mean absolutely nothing
if they did Borrusia Dortmund would be europes biggest club as they get the biggest gates
Middlesborough got 30k plus v derby
but bournemouths 11000 home gates grace the prem

So you agree then that it must be our scouting system that is crap? Or is it that the overpaid players are commanding big wages (relative to other teams) but not really putting a shift in?

By the way, I don't think it is just me that thinks that this is the weakest League One in years, the standard of football on display this season (not just by SUFC) has been terrible.

cup games are never predictable, especially FA cup ones

And this particular result is why we'll win. Also, Barcelona have radically changed their home kit this season just like us. And look where they are now. Only a matter of time before we piss the league innit?

For me it was the manner of defeat mate, not the fact we lost. The last goal, walking into our box and around 4 players was embarrassing.

Absolutely spot on Grappler. I said before the game that if we won I would start to recover some faith and that we were beginning to turn the corner, now ?. There is no doubt that we deserved something from that game yesterday especially after the first half performance. We should have all been purring at the end of 90 minutes but such a good display was ruined by appalling defending no matter how good the finish was. Once again points garnered on the road returned at Bramall Lane, next up at home Swindon, another place we have won at, are we going to do the same, or are they going to put a frigging tackle in.

Not just you no

Its about getting some perspective , and not over reacting , every team thats ever gone up loses games , sometimes out of the blue-
By all accounts the first half was good , the game was not bad but the result was bad.
Chesterfield winning 7-1 shows how unpredictable this league is

Trouble is our shedding of points at home is not something that comes out of the blue, so as good as the display was yesterday, no over reaction to it in my eyes.

sarcasm is very difficult to get right
its easy tp look thick

as you have shown

On the basis of the first half performance we should've won comfortably, we created so many good chances. Second half, however, was a different story.

as did you
sarcasm should be thinly veiled mockery
not piled on with a shovel

tell me , how do bookies assess bets
they, come on youll get there,,,,
thats right
they go on previous form, between lots of clubs

Oh I can do subtlety, I just assumed it'd be lost on you.

Not a gambling man myself, but I'm pretty sure bookies don't make irrelevent analogies when devising the odds. Therein lies the difference.....
