No it should be ....FA investigate chant that a minority of people found offensive but which in reality is no worse than chants heard up and down the country every week

Well, I was sat in G block and I know what I heard - or didn't and from where.

The FA can have my statement if they want - depends whether it fits into their agenda of "nothing to see or hear that was racist" - IMHO

Just my opinion and would swear on the bible if need be.

Ok. Just trying to point out the distinction between something happened and something might have happened.

In the first case you're guilty - in the second case there should be a whole process to go through, and you might be guilty or you might not.

I genuinely think the difference is extremely important.

The chant was uncalled for, un-warranted from the apparent "FEW" on the kop.

I do NOT want the STAR newspaper saying/writing that there were 100's of fans chanting from G & H block - completely and utterly untrue - IMHO.

I also do NOT want the Bradford chairman ranting on about Monkey chants - where has this come from? Any fans want to corroborate this? or is it the Bradford chairman jumping on a bandwagon?. The Club should seek a retraction if unproven from the Bradford Chairman and a public apology and the same applies to the STAR for insinuating that the area I sit in on a regular basis either initiated or started said chanting.

ISIS is recognised as a Islamic terrorist organisation. Bradford has a high proportion of people who may be defined as Asian, a high proportion of whom may be muslims. So when people sing "Town full of ISIS" they are suggesting that because there is a higher proportion of people identifying themselves as Asian, the "joke" is that they must be terrorists (not withstanding how many Asian fans may or may not be in the away fans). Fucking hilarious. And racist.

Unless one believes that the song was directed to everyone who comes from Bradford, irrespective of ethnic origin, can be an ISIS terrorist. I look forward to the same song being sung to fans from the West Midlands and London. Have we had anyone going to Syria from Sheffield yet?

His actual words were:

“I thought we had gone beyond that stage in football. I’d hoped stuff like that and monkey chants were a thing of the past. I feel very sorry for the Sheffield United board because they must be embarrassed by the morons who do that. Unfortunately it’s difficult to stop something like that. We’d look on cameras and if we could prove they are doing it, then ban them from the ground. All you can do is try and get stewards and police involved to identify these morons. It’s beer and sheep – they drink too much and then copy other idiots but it’s very sad.”

I'd say using monkey chants as a comparison is naive, as that's the part that some people are likely to hear (it's already happened several times on this forum) and will do nothing to calm and already inflamed situation.

To be fair, overall he is sympathetic, if a bit patronising.

I was sat on the south stand gangway A and it sounded like about 20 people at most and the chant was a one off that lasted about 10 seconds. Not saying it was right but what is good is how quickly it was shut down by other fans and not repeated. Rather than drag the club and its supporters over the coals I would have thought that the vast majority of supporters ought to be congratulated for not getting involved especially as it even though some don't think it a race thing they all seem to think it distasteful enough not to have joined in with. I think we ought to be applauded rather than anything else for the way everyone except the extremely small minority behaved on the day

No Islam is not a race, Muslims are not a race. Middle Eastern's are genetically, racially Caucasian. I imagine almost 100% of the fans chanting you're just a town full of isis are also Caucasian. Please show me where the racism is?

I've made my point and have done my best to explain why I think it is racist. There'll still be some thinking it isn't racist regardless. Frustrating, but what can you do.

I haven't really been following other threads. But I am intrigued to know how you think it isn't racist. I won't respond because as HB points out, that could no doubt turn in to an endless debate. But I am interested if you would. (Someone might have to quote this for me as I suspect he has me on ignore).

Difference of opinion my friend, the chant (IMHO) is racist, the due process is whether it was sung or not. So perhaps we need to speak to each person who sung it to establish their motivation??

One key aspect of due process here is establishing guilt instead of pronouncing it.

This I think is fundamental to a system of justice - as opposed to a system of lynching, revenge, or similar. No matter how serious the allegations, and how apparently obvious the case, due process should be followed.

In this case motivation needs to be established. If it can't be established then guilt can't be established either.

The legal position may differ, I'm not sure.
