is actually a really good player, tonight he was faultless when we started to pass to him. It was good to see the Sammon and Sharp partnership working again tonight.
I have to ask why we ever started to chip the ball to him as he's just not very good in the air, while a bit bizarre for a big man, he is simply a rubbish header of the ball.
We have got to play to his strengths and that's passing on the deck to him, he has a nice touch and can layoff the ball to team mates really well.

If you give the ball to Sammon chest to feet only

He's our Peter Crouch?

Tends to try and collect the ball. A bit like Billy who despite being a short arse is very good at it.

Telling that he missed with his head and scored with his foot.

He's not bad at attacking the ball with his head from a cross, but back to goal he just reminds me of Jostein Flo, totally not comfortable playing the target man role! His finishing is better than we first thought it would be but overall I'm disappointed he doesn't put himself about more, given his size and build. Maybe he needs a week in a Dave Bassett Army camp to toughen him up and then go paint balling with Glynn Hodges and Carl Bradshaw! ;-) Sorry you'll have to be sad enough to watch and remember the early nineties Blades video to remember that!

I understand he isn't amazing in the air, and he won't win so much.. But when it's played to him in the air, can he at least go for it?! Wrestling the defender and ignoring the ball is never going to win him anything.

Know what you mean Caseh. We've had a few big guys who are crap in the air! Henderson with his flaying elbows and television head springs to mind! I've still got a glimmer of hope for Sammon that he'll prove to be the taller presence that we need this season. If not we might need a target man type in January.
