Sounds quite good to me.

I had an Olympiakos top a few years ago with his name on the back:)

He's 34!

This hopefully will work out for the best if he is fit enough and still good enough.

Just a reminder from the past - Warnock got slated for bringing in Old(er) players, wonder how people will react to the in comparison?

I think it was more a case of the old people Warnock bringing not being up to scratch (obviously a few were good enough though ie McCall)

If a player is getting on, but still has something to offer us then he is welcome.

34 says it all really about Robsons transfer targets.

And how many people are going to say he's played for Brazil and Inter, so pissing what, he's on his way out and Robson just wants to try and awe us all with a Brazilian signing.

Saying that I think my Grandad could play better that Gillespie at the minute.

Even if he is 34, everyone moaned about signing McCall at 37 (?) and look how he turned out.

We could sign anyone and half the United fans will moan. Give him a chance to play and prove himself ffs.

I'm sick of lets just wait and give them a chance bollox.

How f*ing long do we have to wait? Till we're rock bottom of the lg and have an average squad age of 32?

I'm not having it one bit, NW was criticised time after time for signings he made and there is no difference with Robson what-so-ever.

So he's brought Beattie in, when ever did NW have that amount of money to flaunt about in the CCC. Hendrie and Naismith are just average players.

He told us all that he could use his network of friends to bring in players on loan and he'll be able to attract quality to the team. So sorry if I'm not happy cos to me an aging 34yr old coming on trial isn't anywhere near what he promised.

I think i agree RaWW. If Warnock had that kind of money we'd be up there most definitely.

Thing that gets me about Robson, is that he doesn't seem to give a toss about United. Not in terms of fighting for the club etc. His mind seems to be elsewhere to me (Man Utd,lol)

But i suppose time will tell, and i hope he proves me wrong.

How do you know I was one to criticise Warnock's signings? I always said you have to give them a chance before criticising them.

He had the £1.75m, and brought in Ade Akinbiyi. That money to the club then was like the £4m for Beattie now.

ive said for ages our squad is too old but this fella is class look at his stats 46ish cpas for brazil says alot about a player.

he's 34, so what?? if he does a job y does it matter?? who exactly r u expecting robson to bring in, thats going to improve the squad going for the prem, under the age of 27/28 and on a free, or loan? it aint guna happen!! as time goes by the only thing u tend to lose if ur a quality player is ur pace

Linz, Foxy and many others don't like the text speak.

:)

not that bad steve, other members are even worse!

I could not give two hoots whether he is 34 or 24 if he can pass the ball to our players and create chances and score the occassional goal i will be happy.

Maybe i am being paranoid here; but just before or shortly after we struck up a partnership with Chengdu we signed an aging former hero from the far east.
He went on to make absolutely no impact what so ever.

We are now on the verge of a similar deal with a brazilian club and this former international star from that country looks set to join us...coincidence?

Seriously, i will as always reserve judgement; i hope he has a couple of good seasons left in the tank.

hes from brazil though how high is your dog was from china doest that not say enough!!

Hey, I remember him nearly scoring in er..... think it was against Colchester in FA Cup :D haha

But yes I do see very much where you are coming from with regards to signing an ageing player soojn after a link up with Sao Paulo

hes from brazil though how high is your dog was from china doest that not say enough!!

And how many south Americans make an impact in England?

Your point being.....

i think he was on about chengdu...

but like some others say, i dont care how old they are. if they get us up then surely why should we complain. and if we dont give them a chance how will we ever know what will happen

Never heard of him.

Although i will give him a chance.

Newcastle target Ze Maria in Sheffield Utd trials
tribalfooball.com - September 11, 2007

Sheffield United have moved ahead of Middlesbrough and Newcastle in the battle for off contract Inter Milan wing-back Ze Maria.

United have raked in £10m from post-Premier League sales following yesterday's £675,000 departure of midfielder Ahmed Fathi, who is returning to Egypt with Al-Ahly.

With the decks cleared, manager Bryan Robson had stepped up his recruitment drive by taking Brazil international Ze Maria, 34, on a week's trial.

Robson, who took Juninho to Middlesbrough over a decade ago, is homing in on the South American country with his club having forged a link-up with Sao Paulo.

Looks like we are favourite's to land him.

Then again at his age he can't ignore a premiership move.

Roque Junior played for Brazil 48 times and he hardly set the Premiership alight when he was at Leeds. Woeful defender.

From what I remember of Ze Maria he's good going forward but pretty average at defending. Typical Brazilian full-back. Would I take him? Not sure. Would rather have Del Geary playing ahead of him though.
