If that ground in the footage is BDTBL, and the lads are running out from the old John Street stand, then we seem to run towards the Bramall Lane end. Did we like to kick towards the Kop in the first half then...? (I'm presuming also that it's not footage as we run out for the second half).
Blades used to run out to Bramell Lane end in early 1950's.
I know 'cus I were a lad then and stood, railings, just B.L. side of players entrance on't Terrace.
To elaborte, slightly, on thoughs days, and linking them with this season.
I and most Blades fans would equated Jimmy Hagan and Tony Currie almost in the same breath but after this season I believe Harmer is more like Hagan in his thoughts, movement and footballing skills.
Never the less three top players and glad they were and are Blades.
Hope Harmer stays for many more seasons.

I like the fact that it was reported that the Sheffielders were fresh as paint all through, trained to the minute, and full of verve.

Marvellous stuff. I'm hoping that as we progress in the rounds it is reported that we demonstrated a pep of swagger, and a sash of swashbuckle.
Did they have lashings of ginger beer after before they went home and gave their wives a jolly good rodgering?

I wonder what was the route by road from Sheffield to London in these days? Six hour journey?

Interesting question, my dad (who is in his 80’s) always says they used the A1 in his younger years when heading south.

But just checked Wikipedia and the A1 was the first motorway type road and it opened in 1961.
It’s hard to imagine anyone travelling down to London using the minor road system.

I’ve seen old YouTube videos of Sheffield in the 1960’s and there’s not much traffic on the road
So you would expect there to be little road traffic back in the 1920’s.

The modern A1 may be a newer thing but it broadly follows the path of the Great North Road which has been there for centuries.

Billy was only 34 when the final was played, he looks about 70 in the pictures above.
Interesting fact, when Billy retired he managed Derry City back in his homeland and to honour Billy who bear in mind was an legend in Irish football, they changed there shirt colour's to the famous stripes of the Blades

I’m on my way home from Belgium - now that’s a thought tbh - I’ve no problem with the Ginger Beer but 😬

I remember my Dad taking me and my best mate down to London in 1964 (for trainspotting 🙄). We lived in Gleadless back then, but went to Worksop and then down the A1 (based on the Great North Road as mentioned). Virtually all dual carriageway from Worksop, with dozens of roundabouts, down to the outskirts of London. Can't remember the traffic being a problem, even in the capital. Great day out though and great memories.

Think M1 reached Sheffield in 1968

The route would surely have been what is now the A631, through Rotherham to Bawtry. Then down the A1 (Great North Road) all the way.

People definitely used the A1 even when it went through many towns.
