Second highest attendance of the games played yesterday in the cup. The only thing our low attendance shows is that it's nearly Christmas and some people's time and money are being spent elsewhere.

By the time i have forked out for two season tickets and the fuel to get there and back, it don't leave ,much in bank for a second round match against Oldham. Add on top of that the need to take time off work. So the reason I didn't go yesterday is not because I lack passion or fanaticism, it's because I lack the funds and time.

Wow just wow. What a complete arse you really are. If you are not fed up with what's happening at this club you are either a pig or in need of being sectioned

"Wow. Just wow."

The internet's latest cute form of self-serving "outrage".

Yawn. Just yawn.

Plenty of haters to keep you company on here. Have fun. ;)

FA Cup attendances are basically irrelevant.

When we're as shit as we are the vocal support can't be expected to be fantastic - unless we're different from every other club in the country.

Considering the state we're in, turning up in the numbers we continue to do (home and away) and the level of tolerance is remarkable. It's more than the club deserve and more than they could expect.

You know if the players showed a little bit of dedication to being better footballers rather than their main interest of going out on the piss every weekend then one or two fans might show a little bit more inclination to spend hard earned money to watch them, just a thought like ;)
I think some of our fans would prefer to be a part of such low crowds on a regular basis just so they can say I was there and what a big blade I am, me I think a few more crowds like this are just what is needed to wake up the boardroom to the fact that many are sick of the joke this club has become.

Better get used to low crowds as, next season, they will plummet. I didn't bother going yesterday - I've got no reasons or excuses apart from utter apathy. In fact I spent most of the afternoon blissfully unaware of the events at BDTBL.

And here's the big worry. When people like me (just the 53 years in attendance...) are losing interest, it's becoming serious.

but surely hes entitled to his opinion of some of the fans
well thats your argument , you can whinge without recourse

And you know what I didn't miss not being there for a minute either, it should be a huge concern when long standing fans can't be bothered turning up but I suspect the boards only concern is how long they can hold off selling our best players next summer and will it be long enough for us dumb arse supporters to shell out for a season ticket before they say when a bigger club comes knocking etc etc

I was hoping it would be even lower actually.
That means that there's six thousand people to be found in Sheffield who think that this shower of cunts are worth spending their money on. I salute them for turning up but I certainly had zero intention of being one of them.
I've shelled out £380 for a season ticket this year, and for what? No fucking chance that I'm going to spend an additional penny on this club until it has players who want to be there as much as I do.

This coming from the man who seems to derive great pleasure from rubbishing anyone who has ever said anything about the club ever.

I shall give you a few clues as to why there is now a very vocal majority of fans are openly showing dissent against the clubs.

1, We are now in our 5th season in what is effectively the 3rd Division, despite us having a fan base, infrastructure and turnover that is way head of anyone else at this level, and we are heading for a 6th consecutive season in this division

2. The standard of football is shockingly poor at the minute, in both terms of style and results.

3. We have got several players who don't seem to be applying themselves as they should despite being handsomely rewarded for their efforts, more players who are the epitome of mediocrity, and several players who believe they are better than they are.

4. We are being run by effectively 2 parties that live overseas and have limited involvement in the day to day running of the club

5. We seem to be getting drip fed excuses after excuses when things don't go as well as they should, and promises that things will improve yet there is no sign of any tangible improvements

6. The lack of any genuine communication from the top is leaving the fans like we are left in the dark (with the exception of Jim Phipps and his social media communication which has also apparently dried up)

I'm saying this just for the sake of it, or I want to have a pop at the club and board, but these are cold hard facts. We should have been out of this division a long time ago, we should have arrested this slump a long time ago as well. It's not like I've not backed the Blades myself, I spent years watching the Blades, and thousands of pounds have come out of my pocket as a result of allegiance to the Blades.

If that makes me a hater then fine, if that makes other people who show dissent haters, then that is fine as well. Personally I think a lot of what you write is a load of bollocks, and on occasion makes the gross stupidity that spews forth from the multiple accounts of Barny/True seem like intelligent, cogent and rational debate.

I'd love to see a response from you to this post, but I won't, purely because alongside a lot of others you have got me on ignore so you can put your own views forward without other people who hold a different view being able to debate your convoluted, Ill construed words of wisdom.

Yes he is entitled to his opinion but the opinion that the fans are at fault for shortcomings of this club are outrageous go to post 41 and that about sums the situation up perfectly. Sorry for voicing my concerns I should just sit and not be heard while everybody licks Jim Phipps's cock. Go blades
Thank you

Great post with good reasoning. Your last paragraph is the best one I've seen for ages and very very true.

And I can say that I didn't even have an excuse. I have every weekend off, I wasn't going shopping, I didn't have any commitments whatsoever. I simply flat out could not be arsed to go Bramall Lane and get depressed.
I sat at home and played Fallout 4, and I can tell you that running around a post-apocalyptic wasteland trying to avoid being killed by supermutants is far more pleasurable than watching that shower of gutless, spineless lazy bastards right now.

I'd say some of the fans have been spineless, clueless, and pathetic. Less so the players.
Kin el it's the fans fault now. WHF answer me this;
Are you happy with the players performances this season and the football we are watching? Are you happy with our league position?

After paying out match after match, season ticket after season ticket, 5 years of stuck in this shithole division with a team that looks no closer to promotion than any in the last 5 years then yes an awful lot are getting fed up. Yet you blame the fans for being spineless and pathetic. Unbelievable

Surely if others disagree, then the others agree with me and I'm not alone...

Let's disappear down a semantics rabbit hole...

So did the We in your OP refer to Me and others who agree with me or We the fans - be honest now :-)

We all know our top priority is a centre half
We all know our top priority is a mobile central midfielder
We all know our top priority is a new keeper
Or a new board
Or whatever it is "we all know" this week.

I'm pretty sure there isn't one single thing that "We all" agree on. There's a fair few who would be miserable as sin if we got promoted...via the play offs. Though I reckon they'd be just as miserable in the more likely case that we don't get promoted...via the play offs.

So any post stating "We all..." unless it specifically names those individuals and provides sworn affadavits should be treated with healthy scepticism in my book.

Don't worry, it'll be a full house in round 3 when we get drawn at home against a PL team.

Really doubt that such is the apathy a lot of blades feel now. If we got Man U or Arsenal, we'd be lucky to break 20k home fans. The damage to the club this season is massive, and will be very apparent in the gates seen next season.

United fans can take a lot, but players taking the piss with performances like we've seen this season is another thing all together.

Unfortunately, the most accurate post of the season so far

Aren't ST holders automatically counted in the attendance figures anyway. regardless if they turn up or not?

No...season ticket holders have paid for *League* games so "attendance" most closely resembles "paying customers".

With ~7000 turning up yesterday did we in fact have *more* people buying tickets for that game than we usually get for League games ;-)

Yes, with 14 000 ST holders a 7000 crowd is more than a 20000 crowd.

Clearly we can all see we're gradually heading in the right direction - or maybe our rate of process in the wrong direction is being slowed.

But the players turned up yesterday, and you didn't...

Small crowd does have it's advantages. Less idiots, less moaning, less pressure. So, for example, when we rightly pass it sideways or back to the keeper waiting for a better option it doesn't get booed.
And here lies the catch 22 situation. Sideways and backwards for a better option or sideways and backwards for the easy option? There are times when there is space to run into which usually opens up the game more. Unfortunately our players are reluctant to run with the ball

Really? I mean I guess it was somewhat obvious that the appeal of the Cup isn't what it used to be when at least a quarter of our season ticket holders didn't turn up in the last round despite the game being free, but for fuck's sake, that's truly pathetic. I did think that given the Worcester attendance and given the Oldham fans that I was travelling over with telling me they'd not sold too many that it would be poor, but less than seven thousand? It's not like the club have priced it stupidly or anything, and it's not like casual fans are going to prioritise Cov next week (standard league prices, Sunday noon kick off, on TV) over this game. I think I heard the Kop once in the game outside of the goal, three times if I listened very carefully and picked up the GCB. Fantastic support? Bollocks.
Almost 7,000 people turned out to watch the worst team in our entire history in a pointless game in a competition we are never going to win. It's staggering support for these losers

Isn't freedom of choice a wonderful thing, should I pay a decent wedge of money to watch the team I support or spend my hard earned money on an activity that might give me a break, even for a week, from the mind numbing dross being served up in the guise of a football team. What a dilemma.
