Why was he going backwards ,off balance ? That's the point.

Agree about Adams though ,he has been involved in almost half the last dozen conceded ,he needs a rest in my opinion.

Long may well improve, unfortunately, right now we need someone better and do not have the luxury of playing a goal keeper who has shown little improvement in the games he has played. Surely, somewhere there must be a keeper with experience, eager to sign on for may be one season,

Diving backwards totally off the ground with player around = very difficult to precisely direct a punch. In fact, i believe if you can direct the punch then you should be able to catch it (most of the time of course there are exceptions).

I can't believe he gets defended, it's unbelievable.

Adkins even referred to this post match, saying something like players not doing the job they are supposed to do when defending a corner. Adkins ought to know he was a keeper of some 300 odd games.

I can only assume it due to us losing/drawing games and the keeper, much like Howard was, is the fall guy.

First thing I thought when I saw the photo with the unmarked player in front of Long was 'who's supposed to be picking him up?'

It shouldn't need the bench screaming at him, someone on the pitch should be organising.

I don't think those pictures do him any favours , the ball is a comfortable catching height with very little pressure on him. I would be disappointed if a pub team keeper didn't catch that.

Because the blame does lie with him, he cleared to the edge of the box. Why was the shot not closed down/blocked?
He's just being scapegoated in typical United style and now everything that could possibly be blamed on him is.
Jay McEveley is another who was getting slated for games after he made mistakes for other people's gaffs while others are let off game after game.

Just watched the highlights again from Tuesday night and as i thought on the night, Long was at fault for at least 2, maybe 3 of the goals on Tuesday, maybe not the direct fault, but he defo should have saved them.. How he didn't get a hand to the 2nd and 4th goal they scored i'll never know.

New keeper for a late Christmas present please.
