No really. I'm challenging my own capacity for objective thought. :)

Long - 4 - Don't think he had a chance with the goals though the 2nd didn't seem that well hit (my view was crap so I'll reserve judgement). And he had nowt else to do really. Never tested on crosses, no saves to make. Distributed it well enough. How do I mark that?
Freeman 4 - Awful first half but our best player in the second.
Basham 4 - Another awful first half. Put his foot in a bit in the second.
Collins 2 - Positionally disastrous. Organisationally useless. Tectonically slow.
Harris 4 - Exposed in the first half. Some good crosses to no-one in the second.
Hammond 4 - Scored a goal, otherwise ineffective.
Baxter 4 - Poor but perhaps unlucky to be hooked at half time. Could have been anyone.
Reed 3 - A kid needing help caught up in a team of immense shitness.
Adams 4 - Did nothing in the first half (and I mean nothing). A few good bursts and crosses in the second.
Sammon 4 - Scored with a great finish. Otherwise struggled to play football. Which is a problem when you're a footballer.
Sharp 3 - Really disappointing - thought he'd shine again next to Sammon. Wrong.

McEv - disgracefully jeered but gave it his all. In truth the Shrews had declared on 4 so not pressured.
Edgar - clumsy on the ball, but little to do after the fourth.
Done - where has his all action style gone? Is it because he's playing in the wrong system? Baffled.

Ref - who cares when we're that crap?

Shrews - blatantly cheated by making an effort, covering the ground quickly, getting to the ball first and playing as a team.

Adkins - I thought his starting XI looked promising on paper but the team were just pathetic individually and worse collectively. The effort was better second half, but at the expense of any sort of pattern. He now needs to revert to the dogs of war method to stabilise a genuinely sinking ship.

Good grief.

Long 4- slow to react to the second goal and struggles to command his box. You rarely hear him shout or bark out instructions. Not good enough

Freeman 4- poor decision making, dreadful first half, improved slightly after the break. Slow to close the opposition down though

Harris 4- just why was Kieron Wallace dropped? Has been nothing but rank average since his return

Collins 1- joined us midway through our relegation season and though not solely responsible, we will never go up with him in the team. Plenty of effort. Shame he's turd

Basham 2- marginally better second half but could he have been any worse in the first? Closely marked there number 53,"Fresh Air" for the 3rd goal

Reed 2- was a mans game tonight and the game just swallowed him up. Was a blessing for the lad at half time

Baxter 5- Some rash tackling and sloppy passing but he was our main threat first half. Assume he was injured or the subbing was bizarre

Hammond 2- 1 for the goal but a piss poor overpaid has been. Off the pace and with any luck off the payroll soon

Sharp 3- off the boil and feeding on scraps at the moment. Should he be dropped? Yes but like Hammond we know that's not going to happen

Adams 3- not sure exactly what position he was playing second half but by then I didn't give a shit. Totally invisible in the first

Sammon 2- Again 1 for the goal but he borders on being fraudulent for describing himself as a footballer
Subs;
J Mac 2- why was he brought on? Makes Collins look like Beckenbauer

Done 4- plenty of effort but no impact

Edgar 3- despite being shit at the back we haven't missed him.......tells you just how good he is

Can't argue with much of that SpongeBob but a tad harsh on Jay Mc. I think we may well have witnessed Collins last kick of a football for this club. I am actually a follower of Dumbarton FC, like to get up to Glasgow once every year to take in one of their games, and I look forward to Collo returning to the Rock next year, where I'm sure he will shine with similarly talented footballers.

Why do every team that come to the Lane seem to have a midfield player who runs the game, plays it simple by passing and moving? Their no. 17 (Ogogo?) was head and shoulders better than any midfielder we have.
Could it be because they've all got really good midfielders? No
Could it be because our midfield is an outright fucking disgrace? Without doubt.

"Bring Coutts back"....."What's Louis Reed done wrong"...."We need Basham's energy"....repeat, rinse, circle back, lose, again.

It's not lack of effort, motivation, or desire. It's being fucking shite, as simple as that.

Freeman (never say die 2nd half) & Adams (kept trying things) come out with a bit of credit; can't blame George; Reedy gets a free pass. Elsewhere - woeful.

How many times have we read that the squad is good enough for promotion on this forum? That we needed only one or two players in the Summer for automatic?

I said recently that the squad has been overestimated and I stand by that. Practically the whole squad isn't good enough to go up, it's not just one or two we're missing.

From my view on the Kop their second seemed eminently savable. It wasn't well hit and it was fairly central. For some reason Long was way out of position.

Pretty much agree with that mate, We need a new keeper, a new back four (unless Brayford comes back like his "loan period" self) have Freeman and K Wallace as handy back up players. Let all the midfield go, apart from Baxter.

Find out what is wrong with Matt Done (something not right), have Adams as an impact player, bring in another striker, someone tall, strong, fast and athletic.

If we get to the last four games and cannot mathematically make the play-offs, drop the whole team and play the youngsters for the final games. At least we will see some fight and passion before summer.

Re Adams and Reed. I don't understand this view (and seemingly agreed by a few on this thread). First half was shockingly bad, but to me Reed was just average to poor compared with Adams being completely anonymous. Reed even hit an impressive trademark pass out to the left wing in amongst the dross. my dad was consistently surprised to learn Adams was still on the pitch.

Adams has been poor for a while but tonight was the worst by far. Time for a rest.

I'm beginning to feel the lad a bit, looked every bit an Ilkeston player last night, needs a spell on the sidelines.
