If that's the case it would be the fourth club Rosler has managed without actually winning anything. He must have Michael Appleton's agent.

If you keep trying...

'Michael Appleton and his swashbuckling men are challenging the perceived wisdom that the only way to escape League Two is to hoof your way out.

Oxford retain possession superbly, build play from the back and attack with pace and panache. This win at Broadhall Way took them to second place.

As the hosts unravelled, Michael Tonge saw red for a wild lunge on the man of the match, 21-year-old midfielder John Lundstram. '

I saw Tongy's red on C5. To be fair to Appleton he was highly rated as an innovative coach and youth team manager. Credit to Oxford too for sticking with him after an inauspicious start.

It was only 5 days ago that the FA appointed Dr Wayne Allison to head up a project aimed at increasing black and minority representation in elite coaching roles. Barely a week of the Chief's reign, Powell & Ramsey sacked on the same day. He's got a tough job on his hands.

Really? A poor manager is a poor manager - regardless of colour. It's not just a matter of black and white - unless it's the MOBOs. ;)

And in this case, I'm actually surprised Ramsey lasted as long as he did given he presided over their eventual relegation.

That said, there are broader issues in terms of opportunities in the overall game. Report a month ago on this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34589035

And a good interview with Deano on the issue when he was still in Norway: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/dec/14/why-so-few-black-football-managers

And when Warnock gets the sack again in a few weeks time, there'll be no discussion about colour.

I find the black/white player/manager argument both tedious and patronising. (Not you, Loughboro - just sayin') Did Paul Ince become a manager because he was black? Did he get sacked because he was crap? As for Clark Carlisle it was 'Doesn't he speak well? (he doesn't) And he's a footballer! And he's black! (About as black as me!) Utterly patronising.

Reading about Michael Appleton, it does seem as if he's got credentials - he's just been employed by some flaky owners. Maybe he'll pass Adkins going the other way next May?

According to the authors of the book Soccernomics it's so difficult to properly evaluate a managers performance that most clubs base their choice of manager on appearance.

Alan Pardew had the same squad of players as Adkins, and they were in the relegation zone when he was sacked.
Pardew had taken them to 7th the previous season despite a 10 point deduction.

Had KM just read that when he made his infamous comments following the appointment of DW1?

So do we judge Cellino's eyesight as well as his sanity? :D

In other 'dodgy owners' stuff, Leyton Orient's 'President', Francesco Becchetti, could be extradited to Albania after being arrested in connection with fraud and money-laundering.

Nice to know football's 'fit and proper' rules are working well...
