I remember not too long ago we lost 6-0 against Arsenal reserves. It was at the emirates though........

I wasn't going to bother going to the Worcester game but now I've found out that the club is financially stable, I'm like a kitten with a bowl of fish and cream. I'm going to ring the box office first thing tomorrow morning and order the most expensive seat they've got. I'll probably not be able to sleep tonight with the anticipation of hearing "Let me hold you... for the last time..." It just doesn't get much better than this. Financially stable..wow! Who would have thought it. I wish my parents were still alive to see me this giddy. THIS is what makes being a Blade so fucking great. I never thought that I'd ever see my beloved Blades financially stable in my lifetime. Thanks Kev. Thanks Prince. Thanks Dr Phibes. I love you...

Ahh I've no idea of the ins and outs. It's a ridiculous all the same.

It is. But in summary, Championship clubs can lose up to £13 million a season - they can spent it how they like. So a benefactor can "loan" a club money at whatever interest rate he likes and it wouldn't matter so long as the total losses are no more than £13 million.

In League One you can only spend 60% of your income on players wages. Loans do not count as income but if the loan is spent on wages, the cost is part of the 60%. So, effectively, a benefactor can only donate money - loans would only be to help cashflow.

Which is why I have been asking the question about whether it is investment that the new owner of Wednesday has put in or is he just loaning the club the money in the hope that if they get in the Premier League he will get it back. However, we have lots of people saying about their "investment" (as opposed to loan) so I am trying to ask how much that investment is.

To balance (ignoring the 3-0 loss in between) we also beat them 1-0 with a defender in the net... With world class strikers on the pitch.

And took them to penalties in the FA Cup when they had Lauren, Cole, Fabregas, Vieira and Ljungberg on the pitch.

Ashley Cole took the winning penalty if I recall correctly and, rather than rub it in or celebrate, he clapped our fans, which was a nice touch. It made me think he might be a bit less of a twat than the general consensus would suggest.

It always goes round like this . They've had to sit and watch us having cup runs, playing in the Premiership and spending a bit of money in the past 10 years and now we have to do the same.

It will change back again because it always does but as for the here and now they are showing what can be done with genuine investment. Its not even like they've gone totally crazy either. You just have to hope they drag us up with them. I certainly think Wednesday doing well will up the heat on our board to try to compete with them

I remember in about 1985 a fellow Blade saying a very similar thing to me about the pigs doing well would put the pressure on our board to up their game. As usual with our 4th rate board (and over the last 45/50 years that's what we've always had a 4th rate board) they did f*** all, they just got very lucky about 3 years later when they employed a miracle worker called Bassett.

It's all getting very reminiscent of the '80s, United a long spell in the lower divisions, pigs on the up and in a higher division, even the f***ing tories are back in power shitting on the working classes again!

Adkins and the board, stop pissing about and go and get at least 1 proper centre half and let's get out this f***ing cess-pit of a division.

You look at Wednesday now and think that if the players had kept their bottle four odd years ago, we'd have stopped it. But they didn't and Wednesday got the fatal blow in.

Arsenal out, Chelsea losing, in the quarter finals, they've as good a chance as anyone.

Hold on, you think Sheffield Wednesday have as good a chance of winning the League Cup as Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United?

Why even type something so stupid?

That was the game when Paddy Kenny was injured so could only dive one way in the shoot out. Mental times

Still haven't forgiven Colin over that, he should have either subbed Kenny for the sub goalkeeper in the last minute, or even let Jags go in goal for the penalty shoot-out (if that was possible). Arsenal couldn't have had an easier penalty shoot out, Kenny was only going one way for all the pens and their penalty takers just kept rolling it in to the opposite side.

Jim Phipps wants some suggestions on how to improve things at the lane, well Jim you could get on the phone to your boss and tell him there is a tuna salesman from Thailand or wherever it is who is making him look a right cunt in Sheffield. It is time to stop the talk and show us some action, that or bugger off because between him and McCabe they are making a right bollocks of the job

If there is one thing that I have learnt watching football for so many years it's that things are cyclical and just when you think you are up, shit happens, and just as you are at your lowest point, something or someone gets you back on track.

Each Sheffield club has experienced extremes and will do again. Apart from a few exceptions it is harder than ever to be successful for long periods nowadays. I don't see them quite breaking into that elite group of untouchables for a while yet. Even if they go up, they are instant relegation fodder.

Fair play to them though, let them enjoy their semi final and perhaps even another cup win. We had our own recent cup highs under Clough and royally rubbed their noses in it after the Charlton episode. I expect the same from them now. We also beat 3 premier league teams and run another very close with a much worse team than they currently have , whilst they were praising their goalkeeper as their best player and creaming over clean sheets. Have we all forgotten 'Nilsborough'?

You could see them challenging for promotion now but if they lose a few it will be back to the Samaritans show on P or G.

All we can do is worry about us. We are close to having what we need to finally get out if this sh it hole league. Let's focus on that and getting behind our team.

As equally stupid as saying they haven't got a chance in hell just because it's them.

I'm not trying to big them up. Far from it. I hope they get smashed by whoever they play next.

But they've just comfortably beaten Arsenal at home, I'm not sure why they'd fear lesser teams such as Liverpool or Everton.

Quite possibly those teams will take this cup more seriously, especially in the later rounds.

They shouldn't fear anyone though, just enjoy the ride as we have on our way to numerous semi-finals. That's the joy of the cup. :)

From what I can see Wednesday have invested about the same amount of money this season as the £13m our HRH has in the last 2 years. The difference is they've invested it in good players where as we have invested it in shit, injured, championship rejects that are only here to pick up a fat wage at the same time as us selling our best players periodically. That right there is a recipe for league one mediocrity. Will we learn from past mistakes? Do we ever?

The only way we're ever getting out of this league is if we learn to do it properly. That means saying NO when people come in for our players and it means signing our promotion rivals best players, because that's exactly what this big fucking flounce of a club should be doing in this tinpot league.

we had the chance to leave a legacy for a lengthy period of time as being the dominant club in Sheffield.

Now we will be lucky to get close to the fucking pigs within the next 20 years.

Well done McCabe, Well done Shitroll Prince, Well done Phippsy.

oh get a fucking grip, it was only last season they were getting tonked 7-0 by City and we got to the semis.

"legacy for a lengthy period of time" what planet are you on???

We lost 6-0 to arsenals youth team. One of the most embrassing nights I've had as a blade

Me too. Even though I was non plussed about the game beforehand I couldn't believe how a team of experienced players like Beattie, Speed and Morgan could roll over so unprofessionaly against a team of kids

He has been going to Rotherham matches and keep making posts about giving up on the Blades. Why doesnt he move on instead of annoying the majority in here

I went to a couple of Rotherham matches at the back end of last season, both occasions we wasn't playing and I was at a lose end.

I've got a fucking grip.

We are going nowhere in the fucking third division and don't look like going anywhere. Whose fault is that, mine?

Why? I fucking despise them, despise their shitty ground, shitty fans, shitty players, chairman and board. I despise them from the top of my head to soles of my feet, and despise them more than it is possible to despise anything. They are vermin
Do you despise them more than McCabe? ;)

Can you tell me where you've got that figure from how it's broken down. Cheers.

  • Wednesday beat Arsenal reserves and everybody on this forum loses their fucking minds.
Get some perspective, they'll be out in the next round and finish mid table like they always do.

Let S6 have there 15minute of fame . They will always flatter to deceive .

Smoke and mirrors .

More concerned of getting the winning formula at BDTBL.
