- What do you think the board needs to do better to help the Club win promotion?

Support Adkins heavily in the JTW.

- What do you think management needs to do better to help the Club win promotion?

Be backed by the board in the JTW.

- What do you think the players need to do better to help the Club win promotion?

Score goals and keep clean sheets.

- What do you think the supporters can do better to help the Club win promotion?

Fuck off, Jim, we have been through a heck of a lot and are still attending in mass numbers for the lads.
You forgot to add, that some of us fans have been around a fuckin lot longer than JP has and still will be when he has gone ;)

What makes you more of a supporter than the one's that actually try and do what they can to change the many things that are wrong with the club?
Acceptance of mediocrity is a dangerous thing, and this is exactly what the owners are after.

What, keep moaning all the time, getting everyone down, being so negative about all aspects of our club. How is that being united and being a supporter?

Do you seriously believe the board want anything other than success? Why on earth would that be true?

You are a moaner Barny, a negative nellie and by all accounts not very well liked around these here parts. I wonder why?

HH

I think that's a pretty cowardly post from Phipps.

To me, it reads 'In the spirit of taking responsibility.......I'm going to blame the bloke who isn't here any more.'

I hope, pray and (deep down) think that Adkins will get it right eventually but he's not started well. He was badly hampered by the way the board dithered over decisions all summer, we were months behind the field from the off. That's a mitigating factor but he's recruited badly so far, doesn't appear any closer to knowing his best side and hasn't solved some of the big issues (defending, defending set pieces, consistency etc etc).

It staggers be that we're still following a gameplan of make do and mend for 5/6 months and then buy well in January and kick on from there - where's the evidence that's the best way?

As for slagging off the rest of the league - naive at best, stupid at worst.

I hope the board understand that by leaving it until January it will already be too late. They mustn't sack Adkins when we flop in the playoffs again. We'll have to win virtually every game from January to make the automatics and just like last season... That's a stupid idea. Give him next season

Because I'm a realist and say it how it is. I don't hesitate for the fear that posters like you will disapprove of my opinions.

Nothing would ever change if all fans had the mindset of yours. Phipps would be rubbing his hands though.

Just a point of order.

Jim and his backers have invested money not for your benefit, not for my benefit, but for their own benefit.

People sometimes need to remember that they got involved with Sheffield United for one reason and for one reason only:

To make money.

Another negative nellie. Would you have rather they hadn't put their hard earned money into our club? and where would we be without it?

We have been losing money for years. We are a loss making concern. Not a very good investment if you ask me.

Pete, get with it we are lucky to have the support of Jim, McCabe and The Prince.

Unless of course you have a spare £25m in your sock draw?

HH

Very true.

In fact you crave the attention it brings. Hence your 'farewell' thread the other week.

Oh yes, that attention was marvellous, did you see it? I didn't get slated at all and a good slating is something I most definitely crave.

What a bizarre post.

I think the board are well aware of how good Adkins is. I'd imagine there's a lot of mutual respect both for their experience (football and non-football) and their positive, inclusive approach

For me Adkins and Phipps make this a great place to be at the moment.

You're missing the point by a country mile.
You talk of them like they're charity benefactors.
They aren't. They're here to make money.
And so far we're in a very similar position to when they arrived.

Oh yes, that attention was marvellous, did you see it? I didn't get slated at all and a good slating is something I most definitely crave.

What a bizarre post.

It's called notoriety - a form of attention.

There's a "character" like you on every forum. And long may it continue. We could do with a court jester to liven the place up from time to time.

Consistently coming on here and moaning is not going to change anything. In fact I am with Tyler your motives are becoming clear, to be annoying, and for attention.

I joined fb so I could join in. I thought I'd post all the responses so far (edit - all the responses is too big - these are a few of the latest). It's badly formatted but hopefully still readable. Latest responses at the top.

Not had chance to read them all, and some will get cut off as they don't display fully but I thought this would give a flavour of the reaction and interreaction.

Here goes:

Wayne Looch Bolsover I think the key thing to take from this from our point of view is WE as fans can be consistent and positive to the players on the pitch. Some of the recent booing is bang out of order, yes we can be frustrated but the booing only serves to have a negative impact on the players

Andrew Byres Thanks Mr Phipps for that explanation. I really think that 99% of fans are behind the club, albeit some are frustrated at the length of time in this league. We want and will put up with 100% effort. If we don't see that, we aren't happy. I have every confidence in the manager and his approach, however it was so clear, for all to see, that the defence was and should have been the priority at the start of the season ( and last season too). It was disappointing that this wasn't sorted.
Problem clearly is too many players on the books not only of the required standard but fitness too.

It will take time and I for one will give you the time and believe we will get there. Being a fan for over forty years, you've got me for life, it has been worse in the past and I am still going to the lane.

Please pass on thanks to all the board and HRH and stick to the plans you have, you made the correct decision, I believe, on changing managers. UTB

How many other authoritative figures as high up in a football club as he is openly slate their opponents? Wigan's 20 year old chairman did, but that's about the only one I can think of.

Why do you think so few of them do? Because they shouldn't be doing. He's in a open, public position and to be doing that is bordering on disgraceful.

That, along with the fact he's openly slated the previous manager and his signings, most of which are still active employees of the business he co-chairs.

This is the worst thing Phipps has done since he's been here. It achieves nothing whilst damaging and offending many and their reputations.

It's a shambles from start to finish.

What a crock of shit from Jim Phipps and a lot of you are lapping it up as always. Doesn't the sacked worker always take the blame for the company's misfortune ? Very easy to blame Clough even if I agree to some extent, Clough was a wanker as pointed out by certain posters over the last year or so on this forum. Could Jim explain how Clough was allowed to undermine the technical board ? Can Jim explain why Mal Brannigan who supposedly does the deals is still in a job and why he was not shown the door along with his mate Clough ? Jim waffles on about how Clough signed old mates from Derby and crocked players who had played for him before so what has changed Jim ? Has not Nigel Adkins signed Billy Sharp, Woolford, Hammond etc all ex players for Adkins at other clubs with only Billy looking any better than what we already have in our admittedly overblown squad ? Just what the fuck is happening at boardroom level down at Bramall Lane ?

More negative stuff from Barno, currycombing the OP to find fault. Glory be.

Pete, have you found that £25m yet?

I know where there is a very good investment, a business losing £5m +/- a year, sure to make us a lot of money!

HH

As for slagging off the rest of the league - naive at best, stupid at worst.

I can only guess that it is something 90% of the emails/tweets to him claim and he's just used it carelessly. Many clubs in League One are putting decent sides together and the standard of football is generally improving. There's far too much focus on how big clubs are, and not enough on the quality of each team.
