Some blame as got to go to Nigel adkins he knew in the summer what players was needed in the meeting with the fans the first question was asked was the team good enough for promotion he no straight away so what does he do give all the players a clean sheet one massive mistake he should have put all the dead wood on the one side and got rid and got better quality players in over the summer sorry 3rd division football next season?

Would just like to agree with every word there Martin. :)

Because we are dumping about fourteen players at the end of the season and building a new team is a good reason why we CAN dump Adkins as well if he carries on like this.

So you're saying the players aren't good enough but its the managers fault?

That could be a possible situation. The manager is responsible for which players he signs and picks and the tactics they play etc. If they aren't good enough it could well be his fault for not getting or playing better options.

No I'm saying we can dump quite a lot of players at the end of the season. On that basis it isn't important who the manager is who builds the next team.

I still think Adkins is better than Clough but Clough might have been better developing this squad than Adkins as they are his squad.

Adkins is suffering what all our managers seem to suffer, someone else's squad.

What is a fact is we change managers too often.

I do get where you are coming from. There is an argument that with this being Cloughs squad he would have known the weaknesses and strengths of our players and would maybe have had a plan in place to rectify the mistakes of last season. That said he showed nothing last season to suggest he was capable of getting this squad up and the fact he brought in so many players who he himself ended up discarding meant that we may have wasted even more money on players who weren't good enough.

More so than the one calling people he's never met cunts?

If it quacks like duck..

....anyway congrats you've put me and Sitwell on the same side of an argument.. Do want to take on the Palestine and Israel situation now you could work wonders.

You got one
If you dislike my posts that much why don't you have a flounce like I did? I recommend it.

But then you can't seek approval from everyone else who disagrees with my posts I suppose, so there's one down side.

How's about debate rather than biting?

Raise above it all.

We also have to remember that we have three key players close to returning.
The right side will benefit massively when Brayford is back and Wallace will become a good deputy to Harris (hopefully).
Also Edgar although not perfect is the best CH we have. So when we those three back and bedded in again we should have a bit more strength. However we still need another decent CH before we could even think about getting a run together.

That is assuming JB comes back as the same player, and as someone elsewhere has pointed out Harris isn't that good a defender. In theory though, it should strengthen the side.

Trouble was Martin, when all the dead wood was put to one side, we were left with a squad of 3 ;). Money was going to have to be spent on the better quality players, which was going to happen, we've been Blades long enough to know what this board of directors & their spin doctors are like.

What a load of fookin crap on this thread, it is the players that are not good enough and most of them were brought in by Clough.
Was gonna make the same point, the dead wood we need to offload is (more or less) all NC's legacy, therefore not really fair to lay it at NA's door.

Edgar was brought in to shore up the defence - he did not. Played well initially but was poor for most of the games - shocking at Bradford.
To be fair that is probably down to the fact he's been carrying an injury since the international break which coincides with the loss of form. It's worrying that it was not picked up and he played several games after.
Hammond - Been very ordinary to poor
Surely it's a bit soon to judge on that one given his lack of game time this season so far

Too soon to be talking about dumping him IMO. However if we don't go up this season he probably will get sacked anyway. I can't see that moving us forward, and after that I would think it would be hard to attract any managers with a decent track record to come here and take this poisoned chalice. So maybe then we'd be looking at an unproven first time manager, then when that goes tits up replace him with one with a mediocre record from a non league club??

Come on Wincobank, we'll be having none of that negativity on these parts.

He will be here at least one more season. I think the players that are needed, and it's more than just a c/b, will be brought in during the summer, Adkins will get rid of all the dead wood, and the prince will splash out on players that Adkins himself needs to get out of this shithole of a league. If we're lucky enough to get up this season all the better. But for me the next campaign is the defining one. Utb fto.
