I despise this "they pay their money; they can say what they like.." garbage. Most of us want to be entertained and back our team in a convivial, supportive atmosphere, not poisoned by Neanderthal lager drinking idiots who think their uneducated, simple-minded "views" have priority over everyone else's. They don't. We have too high a ratio of negative, amoeba brained twats amongst our fan base. They won't be satisfied until the ale house crap that is all they have ever known once again reigns supreme, Adkins football is consigned to history and we can be upanatem under Muckanettles Morgs.
Some of them are close to beyond belief (certainly outside the depths of S2) and certainly beneath contempt. Worst, thickest, vilest supporters in the land. A complete embarrassment.
Hesitate to get into a discussion with you Pinchy, but I think you are missing the point of what happened on Tuesday.
Firstly, I should state that I don't think anyone should ever boo. Ever.
Secondly, I don't think the boos were against "possession football" which I think is an emerging theme here and on other threads, and ( I think ) what you seem to be objecting to. It would be a mistake to think that Tuesday night was a good demonstration of possession football.
There wasn't that much booing, but enough, certainly during the first half, to be heard, and to be an issue that deserves discussion.
Despite the score, the team performance was very very poor. The Fleetwood performance was even worse than ours, by a long way. The Blades performance was negative ( not just about keeping possession) to the point of being inept. Poor passing, missed opportunities to go forward, lack of self confidence in midfield, nervous, tense, and risky, poorly executed passes in the back four.
I don't have an issue with the tactical approach of keeping possession, but the execution of those tactics on Tuesday night was not acceptable if we have any ambition to progress in this league. It was pretty dire, and the 3 - 1 result does not reflect a good performance. We should all be clear about that, and those posters who weren't there should not focus purely on the result.
I'm hopeful that this team will succeed this season, but they will have to perform better as a team for that to happen.
There were a few boos / negative / insulting shouts near me on Tuesday night which I didn't agree with. But I understand why they were made.
Were you there?
