has kieran wallace got a future at the club. Hes not first choice at midfield. But im wondering if he can actually become a left back he looks very sure gets stuck in and I thought he made a huge difference when he came of bench against Rochdale

In central midfield last season i didn't even think he was a footballer at times, this season though at left back he seems to have found an accomplished position for himself. Having said all that, Harris is by far and away our best left back but i suppose he could be a back up for that spot. He's better than McEveley at LB anyway so deserves to be infront of the captain

For however long we're in league 1, yes he's a very decent player to have in the squad, being played as a left back.

Past that, I don't think so. But the same can be said for 80% of our squad.

He's only 20. Still plenty of time to develop.

I think he'll be a good player for us.

Good squad player. With Bob injured McEveley losing form and or confidence - and possibly being driven out of the club - it's a good job we've got him.

Does simple things well eg often beats men by pushing the ball past them and running after it. No tricks, and no apparent burning pace either. Not sure how it happens.

Often plays like a seasoned pro. Hard to say what exactly, but there's often a no nonsense approach, and occasionally wisdom/"professionalism" beyond his years, about his play.

Very occasionally caught miles out of position.

If you're being critical then (from memory) you could say he was at fault for one of Port Vale's goals, he's not close enough to the attacker who finishes. The kind of thing where the haters would've called for McEveley's head on a stake. In fact was often off the pace at Vale. I also thought Rochdale came down our left a lot on Satdi but it's not as apparent on second viewing.

Remarkable that we went for Adams - who's clearly eye-catching - and ended up with another player from the same team.

I think Foxy has a great video of a legendary free kick. He now takes a decent corner. This transformation alone is astonishing :)

I am fairly sure we went for Wallace, and ended up with Adams, and not the other way round.

I think he definitely has a place I'm our squad at left back, and I think he could be around for a while - At 20 he has a lot of potential.

I'm not sure he will have a starting spot once Brayford and Harris are back... I'd have Harris and Freeman both ahead of him at LB.

He's miles better than McEveley already, so for me the shirt is his while Harris gets back and then we have real competition for him.

Not so rompo. Adams was attracting significant league interest and we signed him ahead of a lot of clubs; Wallace was the add on.

Is it not possible we just went for both of them at the same time? Simon Clough is obviously aware of the local non league clubs so surely he'd know about both Wallace and Che. It's not like we've signed them from Serbia.

There are still question marks over him defensively. It's not the hardest thing to come in and look good for a few games at full back. But what's plain to see is his good technical ability, composure and the consistency in his decision making. Quite surprising for a young player coming from non league. I think he should be a decent utility player for us going forward and it wouldn't surprise me if he made the left back spot his own this season.

Our best option for left back at the moment. It will be interesting to see what we do when Brayford is fit as one of the following will have to happen

1. Brayford plays out of position (CB)
2. Freeman plays out of position
3. Freeman or Brayford does not make the starting 11.

If ti's option 2, Wallace is the most likely casualty. Hoepfully he continues to improve at LB and makes it difficult for Harris to get back in the team.

For all the stick NA had had for his clean slate, it has to be said that there has been some improvement from Wallace, Alcock, Coutts and Baxter since he came in.

Don't agree with that Wallace is work in progress at left back only.
Harris and Freeman are not players we want here can't defend continually out of position.

He's quickish, he's strong, he's progressive, he's technically decent, & he's increasingly confident.

Not the finished article, by any means. But I reckon we've got a player on our hands here.

Hopefully he'll get a decent run at left-back now after Jay's hobbling off (& seemingly having an injury that'll keep him out for a while). Can't see Brayford being back in contention for a month or so, & the Glaswegian Nutter's way off yet.

(Don't know if he's good enough yet to have an S2 thread headlined IN CAPITAL LETTERS yet though. :D)

Almost the definition of a good squad player.

I reckon Bob will probably win his place back probably on the strength of his distribution if nothing else.

Yeah, you're probably right. I'm a big Bob Harris fan though, so wouldn't be aggrieved about that.

Even so, KWallace has improved a lot in a short space. Be good to see him have the luxury of an extended run in the first team now, see if he can sustain performance over a period of time (a la Kieron Freeman - Mr Consistency).

I sounds like damming him with faint praise to say he is better than Maceverly, but he is much better than him at left back.

Can't see him playing much beyond this level though.

Plenty of players mature / come into the game late. If he can learn the trade of being a left back, I think we have a nice surprise package on our hands. I like the Bryson comparison as he does run a bit like him from memory.

From January onwards Bob's form really did dip, not sure if he was playing through injuries so glad we are doing the right thing by him bringing him back slowly.

I would have to see the goals again, but from memory, our flimsy midfield and centre halves were pretty much to blame for both goals, especially the second.

The only negative is that I believe hes right footed

He's done well in recent games for me,and seems to have the right attitude aswell...I read a decent article on him last week on how he started at Forest and went to Ilkeston to play games despite other offers.

For such a young player, to make such a jump into a completely unfamiliar position so well is remarkable. I would suspect that he might have a bigger future in football than any of us suspect.
