It already looks like they've forced him to sell Murphy, publically stated we had all the money to reinvest, and then not bothered. Not even on loan.

I don't imagine anyone can seriously defend what's happened so far this season. The players, the board and to a lesser extent the manager have all combined beautifully to create the worst Sheffield United side I have seen in my 30 years of supporting them. The most horrible thing is that whether clapper or slasher we all care deeply about this club. Clearly much more deeply than anyone on the pitch or at board level. We have dug a hole for ourselves with the players, contracts and wages from previous managers and working our way out of that will take time due to FFP situation. If we give in to player, agent and club demands for fees and wages the situation will get far worse.

Got to get some of the dross out and quality in not going for 2/3rd choice players and doing what Clough did making squad more average

I wouldn't knock Adkins for walking away to be honest. It would show up the people who are the real reason we are so abysmal. Not that they would feel ashamed. They are clearly incapable of showing any emotion towards United

All that seems to have happened in the past few years is the spin is now being said by Phipps instead of McCabe. Remember "Substantial with a capital S"? I think that was the season we sold Beattie and replaced him with Craig Beattie on loan

I think Adkins needs to take some responsibility for this mess. The defensive issues have been there since way before he joined as have the midfield problems (which personally I think are more worrying).

Now, if the problem is that he's no getting the backing from the board, then fair enough. But we've seen so many teams with less financial muscle than us be able to bring in players on loan and permanently that would improve our team. If we haven't because he's doing exactly what his predecessor did and chase unlikely targets, then a finger needs to be pointed.

I'd love to have Hammond and Burn but if we're getting knocked back on them, we need to look elsewhere. I'd rather he got a couple of loans in now that weren't as good as those two but would improve the first team, and then go after them again in January.

I agree totally Wizardry. Unfortunately we don't debate much because MOST of US are so far apart, we end up arguing or even slaging each other. Sad but true.
