So So many demonstrate a genuine lack of understanding of basic football tactics.

How many times were loud jeers heard today whenever a forward pass was not made ??

Not saying that forward passes were sometimes "on" but not made / seen. But I would trust our manager and players to decide when the penetration and transition should be made above lumping hopeful balls forwards every day of the week.

We completely dominated that game from minute one and for many, cos the ball was not in the danger areas for the entire 90 mins, this constitutes negative play !!!!

Not looking for a row but seriously, quite a few need to get a basic grasp of tactical understanding before spouting nonsense.

Our fans deserve praise for continuing to back the club in fantastic numbers despite years of mediocrity. Fans of all teams moan and groan at times - generally out of frustration.

We looked good going forward today and could have had 6. Still poor defensively and we give far too many free kicks away in dangerous positions. Very enjoyable win overall though.

Still work in progress, and we just need to be a little more positive with our intent.

When your midfield goes sideways and backwards when they have space infront of them it becomes frustrating. We are not Barcelona so we don't 'start again' to move them around the pitch and make more space. We don't make triangles to create space, we go across the pitch in a line at the back and in midfield.

Some of us appreciate good football and for it to be played in the right way and some just condemn moaning when they have a lack of knowledge of the game.

There were some around me (myself included) who thought we try too hard to dink it from one player to another on our own 18 yard box when sometimes the best option should be to just get rid.

I went and it was average.

Sure it could have ben 6 ,it could also have ended in a draw.

The simple fact at 2-1 and playing 10, we were negative IMHO. If we had have got a third early then it could have been different.

Well, in reality we pissed round playing back, playing it sideways when what it needed, as usual, was general in centre midfield.

Is it a moan - yes it is.........a better team with 11 could have beaten us - Playing 10 was the only reason we looked half decent.

Still plenty on work to do, as once again we seem to have experimented in midfield. Adkins, as Clough did all last season does not know his best team - I hope he decided quicker than Clough ever did.

Sorry to pick you up on this fella, But this is exactly what I mean. Retention of the football while not under pressure, in ANY area of the pitch should be our number one objective. Thankfully this does appear to be Adkins mantra so I suggest you and others strap yourself in to your seats, sit back and learn to appreciate what the players are trying to do.

Lump it in row Z when under pressure. Why risk it ?

But when we have players in space to pass to that are behind the ball, make the pass, retain the ball, start again.

At 2 - 1 with eleven vs eleven and two seriously dodgy defences I thought it could end up 4 - 3 or 4 - 4

However when they went down to ten men I thought we did pretty much everything right, we created the chances, (hit the post, two cleared off the line, three good saves from their keeper)

I don't think we were negative in the second half at all, if you want negative think back to last season under Clough, we would have shut up shop, and settled for 2 - 1

That's the thing, on more than one occasion, we were under pressure while doing this. Ok, it didn't come back to bite us in e arse this time, but up against a more quicker/determined team and we'll have problems.

I think that it was far from average. The second half was as good as we have seen for a while. We kept the ball and played it around around well. It's clear that Adkins likes us to play down the wings as we consistently looked to get out wide then attack into the box.
Yes, donny were down to ten men but we had completed control of the game for large periods. It's no exaggeration that we should have scored 5 or 6 goals.
I heard plenty around me booing when we played the ball back to Howard on a couple of occasions. There was no need for it (the booing, not the back pass) and I fail to see what it is meant to achieve.

I was there and our fans were very good - as they invariably are. Another 20k+ crowd - outstanding.

There WAS too much backward movement today though.
We do it when it isn't even necessary, when there's players in space upfield.

We were at home to a 10 man bottom 4 team today and the constant knocking the ball backward, coupled with the quite frankly pedestrian pace of play for two thirds of the game hardly sends the message that we're a side to be feared. We've done the exact same thing at home against other teams and we've been turned over.

Yes I'm very happy with the win today, I'm no constant moaner and I'm the first to criticise the negative cunts among our support. But it's not unreasonable to expect some intent and urgency before the 70 minute mark kicks in.

Absolutely. Control the ball and you control the game, it's a lot more tiring to try to get the ball back than it is to play with it - especially when you only have 10 men. It's as if at 2-1 with an extra man at half time, people would be disappointed if we retained the ball in our own half for 45 minutes

You cannot just sort by attendance. I wasn't there so I don't know what noises, if any, our fans were making, but I'd rather have 10k properly backing the team than 25k that'll start getting irate if we make more than three passes without launching it into the box

Better today but the opposition was poor. The win was the most important thing though after a bad run. Still far from being great but at least starting to move in the right direction.
