Howard 5 Didn't communicate or take control for the first goal. Mediocre league one keeper.

Freeman 6.5 Not his best game but been our best defender so far (not saying much).

Collins 5. Just collins, can't stand him and can't wait to see him leave.

Edgar 3 Won a lot of balls and did well defending Bradford excellent set pieces but can't deny his appaling defending for the second goal. Deflection for own goal was unfortunate but he let the ball bounce a couple of times today and it's just not good enough.

Mceveley 1 Absolutelt appaling.

Woolford 1 Pathetic.

Basham 6 Kept going, we need him to play in midfield because of the lack of athleticism the squad has in this area, but he's a better centre back than centre mid for me.

Reed 7 Thought he looked a good player again tbh, surrounded by utter 5h1te for the first hour but used the ball well.

JCR 5 Not his day but wasn't helped much by those around him.

Mcnulty 1 Contributed absolutely nothing and should have scored just after we equalised, didn't even hit the target. Get him back on the bench cus that was a disgraceful performance, preferably being replaced by a new signing.

Sharp 5 for first hour, 8 for last half hour. Excellently taken goal and showed where his class lies. Always gives his all and has 5 goals already for a team enduring a faltering start to the season.

Subs:

Baxter 9 Perfect situation for him. Loads of space in midfield against a poor team who don't squeeze the play well at all. Excellent ball for sharps goal and saved us on the line at the very end.

Still a luxury player overall though, but every so often they'll be an ideal situation to use him. Lack of athleticism says he'll never be a championship centre mid IMO.

Sammon 8 Put himself about and did miles more in the 25-30 minutes he was on than Mcnutly did the entire 90 minutes.

Alcock 6 A solid enough improvement on mceveley but still got done in the box at one point and gives us no quality on the ball whatsoever. Mceveley should be paid up and Alcock should be there for emergencies only.

Yes, mcnulty, mceveley and woolford. Not sure if you noticed but for large parts of that game we looked like a pub team and certain players were at the heart of that.

We were an utter disgrace at times today.
Maybe 1 is harsh for mcnulty because he didn't get sent off or anything, but he was still appaling.

Maybe this forum should have a ratings section ?

The lowest I've ever gone is a 2 for Lee Baxter in net. I gave Manuel Thetis a 3 once and used to regularly dish out 4s and 5s for Willie Falconer.

I guess it all depends on context.

While I would say that he was slow to react for the first goal, he should never really have been put in that position. I'm sure the last thing he'd have expected Edgar to do in that situation was a suicidal header back. He made a decent reaction save from a tricky free-kick early on too.

Replacing Howard isn't at the top of the priority list, but as I said in the summer we need to be looking at getting someone better than him and Long in. I think his command of the box and communication skills are greatly overestimated.

The Reed you've given an 8? Not the one who was a complete passenger until Baxter came on and then did no more than get involved in the game as a midfielder should? Surely not him?

A lou-dicrous Bladey assessment. 5, and that's generous. The lad is nowhere near ready. Off to the u-21s to learn the game, son.

Yes, Adkins OUT. We all want Muckanettles Morgs in really, don't we lads?

Upanatem....nowt fancy.

I guess everyone forgot about the great save Howard made early on from there freekick, plus how can he be at fault when you defender just heads the ball nowhere. Didn't do much wrong IMO, the fault lies with the 4 in front of him.

He was our best player in the first half for me. He was the only one who was attempting to get in the faces of Bradford and was the only midfielder who looked forward when he had the ball

It's not a bladey, blade rating. I've given him more low marks than high ones in the past 12 months but today he was good. I know you don't rate him and maybe he isn't ready to play week in week out but he was easily one of our better players today

he made a good reaction save by making himself big. Hardly a great save. People over-egg that kind of thing, like they no doubt will do about Baxter saving us (being stood where he was meant to me and heading a ball).

Freeman, on the other had, put in a brilliant last gasp sliding challenge to stop a clear goalscoring opportunity.

I don't think he did much wrong today either.

You didnt see him at Swindon where he played very well. Played ok today

Only heard the second half commentary today, but by that account seemed to be playing very well. By comparison at least.

I get why people don't rate Reed. He doesn't score and isn't a playmaker or a defensive midfielder. He's just sort of there. Today though he at least tried to make things hard for Bradford and aside from Sharp he showed more aggression than any other player in the first half.

Willie Falconer.... Last seen disappearing down Jamie Hoyland's trap door along with a number of subsequent passengers who have occupied that coveted CM spot for the Blades since!

Agreed. He's only 18 so will keep getting better, but today he put himself about and kept trying things. Noticeably, he's Mr right foot this season. I'm guessing that's something deliberate from training.

Clearly he's not at fault for the misplaced header but it looked like he just didn't fancy it. He dived under the ball, rather than spreading and diving at feet. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

Howard - 5
Freeman - 6
Edgar - 3
Collins - 7
McEveley - 4

Basham - 7.5 - we would've been fucked without him. Made important tackles at important times.
Reed - 7 - waste of space in the first half, but very good in the 4-3-3 with support around him.
Woolford - 4
Sharp - 7.5
McNulty - 4

Alcock - 7
Baxter - 8
Sammon - 7

Mike Lake was similar but what a long shot he possessed! Saw further passengers Jonathan Hunt and Ian Hamilton in the late 1990s. That said, I actually thought Bobby Ford was underrated though and took a good penno.
