Good comeback today but that's twice in 3 games where the starting line-up was wrong. He really needs to look at this as it's costing us badly.

We've got nothing in midfield and losing the battle there.

I'd try a 3-5-2 with wing backs. We'd have an extra CB, three in centre of the park and still have two up top. With the lack of quality wingers we wouldn't be losing anything out wide.

I think the main problem with that is we don't have wing backs.
Flynn or Freeman maybe right hand side but no one suitable for the left.

Fair shout but we need to get a extra man in the middle of the park without sacrificing a striker. Feeman and Alcock maybe for now until Harris comes back

Problem is all our squad are only any good when they come off the bench:D

In the case of Baxter, I'd say, unless we sign a top defensive midfielder, that is the best place for him. He's no use in a 4:4:2 and struggled in a 4:3:3. But, if he comes on when games are opening up and there's a lot less pressing, then he's dangerous.

I would be quite happy with Freeman and Flynn as wingbacks until Harris and Beard return. I'm slightly less secure about playing 3 CBs, were bad enough with 2!
Personally I don't think Freeman could play as a left wing back.

I do agree though that we haven't got the central defenders to do it either. I don't think they've got the intelligence or movement.

I like 352 but you need five 'specialist' players who can defend in a way we don't traditionally in this country.

Clough put together a team to play in a certain way and if they're not able to adapt to the most basic and traditional formations, 442, then there's little chance they can adapt to the far less conventional 352.
