'We should boo McEveley every time he touches the ball'

All I'll say about jay is that if he plays all the season we will be back to square one .

Why should Sharp give up the penalty when he scored the previous one? Maybe he shouldn't have gone the same way!

Yes after missing the first time, granted keeper was nearer to him than his line, but physiological boost never the less to him. Hardly like Baxter is a shit penalty taker.

Another piece of fuck wittery came from whichever moron hit the Colchester keeper with a coin after the second penalty save...

I wondered why he went down holding his shin, but soon realized what had happened when he handed something to the ref.

No wonder there's the big nets behind goals in European football..

Baxter is a superior penalty taker to Billy.

I actually thought Baxter was going to take it when he grabbed the ball... but then when he proceeded to give it Billy, I thought "Oh dear"

There was a definite air around us of that tonight. While the team played badly I'd like to think people recognised what he did well tonight, including a hand in both our goals.

There was one brilliant passage of play that seemed to sum the man up, in the first half. He was too far away from his man, but recovered well to win the ball. Then as he tried to get clear, his awful touch nearly played it out for a throw-in. Slightly panicked, he just booted the ball upfield, where it landed perfectly on Sammon's chests. Four ups and downs in as many seconds.

Hey, Bergen found a video of exactly this incident!

You should never every boo an individual. Boo the team in friustration at the end of the half yes, but to boo an individual? Do you think that's going to make them play with any more confidence?
Do you have someone on your shoulder at work telling you your shit every time you make a mistake at work?
No, didn't think so.
So, stop this booing of individual players...it's wrong ......

Rant over............

I agree with almost everything you say, and I am a positive chap who recognises that I should do all I can to put something positive forward towards the team whenever possible. But... if/when I am making basic mistakes at work, week in and week out, my boss will encourage me at first, but if I continue to adversely affect the "team", yes, he will get on at me. And I am on a pittance at work and work long hours. And if my boss/team thinks I am not really that committed and going through the motions to pick up my wages, then I'd expect it even more.

Have to add though, I'm a clapper, not a booer.

Everything that is "wrong" with our support summed up perfectly in the title of the OP.

I despair I really do.

1 or 2 numpties near me that drive me crackers so I sympathise with the OP.

Beginning to think that some ( by no means all) bring their sad little lives to the Lane with them and can't wait to bitch and moan about anything and anyone.

You got roofs over your heads ?
Clothes on your back ?
Food in your bellies ?
Clean water to drink ?
Few quid for a beer n cigs in your pocket ?

Then be grateful and stop feckin squealing cos there are millions that don't.

Get a fucking grip.

UTB.

Puppet,

It's all about hindsight again.

This bad run you talk about is 2 games and against Bury we were unlucky. Think they came into our half 5 times as our defence and goalie had little to do all match.

Agree we were shocking the 1st half against Colchester but still could have won 3-2 at the end as we created loads of half chances.

if we win our next 2 matches then does it mean we will storm the league?

The Murphy sale was a fair piece of business. He's been poor both seasons before Christmas and is lightweight. Probably more suited to a higher division. Aldo he wanted to leave to improve his international prospects.

Let's assume we keep him against his will, his morale would suffer and everyone would be saying how stupid the club was to reject such a big offer.

Also with Adams and Done we have good talent on the wing.

Also agree we should never boo our players unless they lack effort and have a disrespectful attitude towards the club and fans.

Just one slight problem Adams ain't a winger and has only played a handfull of league games and Done who could play left wing/midfield is long term injured.

We weren't even shocking for the whole of the first half: they came flying at us, and it took too long to adjust but we were creating very good chances by half time.

There's plenty to be learned from Tuesday but the fairly common blanket assertions that everyone didn't care, they're all crap and Che, Matt Done, and Dan Burn are saviours are just nonsense.

The most disgraceful part of that night was Michael Higdon being booed ON to the pitch.
It takes a special variety of cunt to jeer your own players before they've touched the ball.

Agreed.

Booing (even the ref) is akin to the act of a petulant child who has not got its own way.

The popularity of booing amongst large sections of Blades fans is, to my mind, embarrassing.

My own reaction to crap play is not to bother cheering or clapping. Personally think this gets across the message much better than booing ever could.

The only counter I'd offer to that was that at 2-0 down when some "fans" were turning against the team there was a loud chorus of support.

Often I think the team get the fans going and not the other way round, but some of the fans injected some life into the team on Tuesday.

I know Blades have a reputation for spelling players names wrong but there's at least 4 different spellings of McEveley in this thread alone.
