Players that need replacing

I said we needed another four or five players at the start of the season. Here we are in mid September, and nothing's changed. We're seeing exactly why we need those players, although a run of wins clouded the reality for many.

Adkins' determination to be Mr Nice Guy and a board who couldn't know any less about football has seen us fail to do what any competent, ambitious club with our expectations would have done. Instead we've stuck to the Sheffield United method of rewarding piss poor players, doing the bare minimum and hoping for the best.

After five years at this level you might have thought they'd detect when it's there for the taking and act accordingly, but they just seem to have no idea.

To be fair to Adkins (and the board ) , upon his appointment , will have taken advice from people within the club , watched videos of previous games ( unfortunatley no doubt cup games) , and talked to other managers / coaches in league 1 ( who he has a relationship with ), and come to the conclusion , he would give the squad a chance . ( bear in mind we finished 5th ).

The Gillingham game was a wake up call , but may have been seen as a blip. However the alarm bells should have rung when in his post match interview , (after the Gillingham game) , Basham said , they were not at the races and couldnt get going . The big problem is the mentality of the squad , as 98% cannot better themselves , as the best they will achieve in there careers now , is playing for a club like Sheffield United . We may only be in League 1 , but for the majority , this is now the pinicle for them , and the only way for them personally is down not up . This does not do anything for a club wanting / hoping promotion.

Two great points:

" will have taken advice from people within the club"

Who are these muppets and why are they still here, they offer us nothing based on our recruitment or lack of.

We wasted all last season finding out where our weakness were so the new manager could hit the ground running?
Did we not learn anything?

" for the majority , this is now the pinnacle for them, and the only way for them personally is down not up . This does not do anything for a club wanting / hoping promotion"

When you put it like that we are going to struggle.
