Colchester were the better side

Not just better, much better and DESERVED all 3 points. That pains me to say.

I would have taken 6 of their players (at least) in a heartbeat over the ones we had out there. That pains me to say.

We are far far too slow in possession and teams that come to defend (not that Colchester did!) will always get men back in time. We won't win many 'home bankers' with that side. That pains me to say.

We have no creativity and the loss of a winger for 1.5mil with no reinvestment at all of the money has to be the key reason. That pains me to say.

Nigel has to stop farting about, and stop playing Mr nice guy, or he'll end up with the second sacking of his career on his CV for putting his faith in players that simply aren't good enough.
And why are we waiting to sign players when we need them now? Do we get more points for the games around Christmas time?

No players ratings because I'd be delving into minuses to describe some of the performances tonight. That is the worst I've ever seen us, we've hit our lowest ebb. The players are the real problem, putting faith in the wrong ones.

Wake up Nigel or you'll lose the fans, and I'd hate that to happen as he is my favourite United manager in a good number of years. Once the fans turn, that's it.

It was a must win tonight and we've lost. Time to stop playing Mr Nice Guy and sign the players we need.
But you know what they say?
No pain, no gain.

Oh, wait a minute ..................

Against Bury I thought we were the better side.
They did a smash and grab number on us

But tonight I also agree that Colchester deserved their victory.

What a wield game with so many chances at both ends.

We created about 2 clear cut chances and about 12 half chances
Although they didn't create as many chances they must have had about 6 clear chances.

At half time I was thankful we were losing 0-2, it could have been worse.
As expected we improved in the second half and their defence looked quite dodgy. Strange game.

I need to sleep on it... but...

3-1, Bury were the better side, out thought and out fought us.

Tonight? We were utter rubbish first half, I wonder what the ratio of passes competed to our own player/opposition looked like? So 2-0 flattered us.

And when we got to 2-2, a more even second half, did we manage to push over a deflated side that had not won yet? No. We never looked like winning that match.

FFS if thats the worst youve ever seen us play in a first half you should have endured some of the crap
we had to endure under Haslam, Peters McEwan and Heath
NBWs

Adkins out

We've seen some dire ones Caseh, but I totally agree, the first half was a total embarrassment, a worse performance I'm struggling to remember. Improvement second half, but at 2 all, I had just mouthed the words "just waiting for the sucker punch" to a mate when 10 seconds later Howards stood rooted as the net bulged.

Where do you sit, crucial? A mate of mine who sits on John Street was unaware that their third took a massive deflection. Not that it matters. At 2-2, I was half-hoping that we wouldn't score again. For the early part of the second half, Colchester eased up in attack but I've no doubt that if we'd gone in front, they would have just strolled downfield, panicked our defence and scored another.

No danger of that, we'd ran out of steam at 2-2.

No we didn't. Bob Harris, John Brayford, Matt Done, Che Adams. At left-back, we didn't even have our second-choice out.
He's captain, he's first choice for Nigel without a doubt.
Them 4 players shouldn't change that much for the team, surely? They haven't been fit all season 3 of them, and Che has been anonymous for the past few games.

There are no excuses.

I disagree. McEveley won't command a place over Harris or Freeman, Matt Done will make a difference, Che (however anonymous) is a threat and a headache for oppositions and will benefit from a strong back-four behind him. We'll see, I suppose.

The frustration on this thread is palpable. And perfectly understandable.

But I for one am not willing to give up the fight just yet. Still reckon we will be there or thereabouts come May.

Rather get a bad run out of the way in September !!!

And I simply could not agree that Colchester were better over 90 mins. 1st half for sure. They have won with a lucky deflected goal. Let's not forget that. Even then, we should have got a point. Good of Sharp to come out and face the music. He will not need me or anyone else to tell him he had a bad night in front of goal.

In an ironic way, I hope this is the real wake up call players and manager need. That squad IS good enough. Time to prove it.

But we really do need to put this right, and soon.

That first half was embarrassing,we were overran..we didn't move the ball quickly enough and our only outlet is to get the ball to JCR and hope he can get a cross in,or get in behind,as he's the only player we had capable of running past and beyond his man, where they were running past players for fun.
We did improve 2nd half but far from convincing..Credit to Colchester they deserved the win..at 2-2 they didn't sit back, they kept coming forward although they were a bit fortunate with the deflection for the 3rd though.

Kop end of John Street Grafikhaus. to be honest I didn't realise it had taken a deflection just looked a decent finish. At 2-2 I thought we had them rocking a bit, but then as someone pointed out we eased up and invited them at us. Actually thought that if we had have gained the lead we would have gone on to win it. The opposition strolling down the field and panicking the defence just about sums it up, bypassing the invisible midfield of course.
