who can?

I know it's early doors and I'm not being negative or calling for his head quite the opposite. My only concern is we must have one of the best managers in L1 and the Championship combined and if he can't get out of this league this season who can?

Wobble over, 3 points Tuesday and back on track but we can't afford to lose more than 6/7 games this season and we are 2 down in 6

Any club that repeatedly sells it's best player every single fucking year and does absolutely bugger all about replacing them will never go up,and wouldn't deserve to.

But don't worry. Some sensible folk reckon we 'might' get a centre back on a short term loan so all is ok.

Went out for pub and you were at it, I'm back and you're still at it. It's Saturday night pal, have a break and enjoy yourself!

Gillingham and Wallsall could easily run away with it... We have to get back on a winning run sharpish or we could be talking about signing players in Jan for yet another crack at the play offs.

Regarding the first post you answer your own question, it is early doors. It's September ffs, today was a very deflating result but it's just one result.

I would put good money on neither of them going up.

To answer your question no one unless they get proper support from our board reinvest some of the money we got from cup runs and transfer sales.

If we had the start like we had under weir , I could understand some hitting the panic button , but not after 6 games
We still have 40 games to play it's not who's leading the marathon at the start , but who crosses the finishing line first .
Yesterday was very disappointing , but Jesus you'd think we were Barcelona , or only lost 1 or 2 games a season and regulars in the champions league or summat , not a 3rd division team with good support , but fuckall else going for us , as I said to to someone else on here , we have to earn it , nobody's going to give it to us cause we are Sheff Utd .
Over 40 yrs supporting this club and take results like yesterday with a shrug of my shoulders , and say to myself and junior next game will be better . Some are , some aren't , the thing most on here have is a love for our club , and only want to see it do well , but reading some on here , seems some can't wait to pick up the club before it falls

Thats our trouble , and winning will only satisfy , as the expectations of all fans are on par with Barcelona , Real Madrid , Man Utd , Chelsea etc , but on a differant level . Our expectations are to get out of league 1 , and so desperate for success , and nervous of failure , that we go into meltdown , frustration , when we lose a game.

We do have to earn it , but the other frustation , is us fans , feel we earned it along time ago , and the club , players ( whoever they are ) , do not match up to our own loyalty / commitment.( gates are consistently good , but overall means fuck all - only points matter , not size of the attendance )

As the thread title says - IMO if Nigel Adkins cannot get us up , we are well and truly fucked .

( Also NA and his staff , are going through a learning curve , as this league has changed drastically , since the last time he managed in it )

Of which four were wins. It;s not clapping and it's not slashing, it's a fact. And IF we win on Tuesday, five from seven. Anyone on here can say they would not have taken that at the start of August?
I would have taken 2 draws at Peterborough, and Swindon . HB .
As would most on here .

Me too, and would have had Bury home as a banker win. That's the great thing about football.

Will be interesting to see Bergen's take on the game. Adkins sounded hoarse in the post match interview, expect the players got the hair dryer treatment post match.

My original point that got a bit lost in the bickering is that I think Nigel Adkins is the best managerial appointment we've made since Warnock was given his marching orders.

The only way he wouldn't succeed (in my opinion) is if he wasn't given the opportunity to from behind the scenes. Like our previous managers.

Good points , and post LBE , and most on here have put in the long journeys, spent thousands, in following our club , and 5 yrs in this league is nothing to be proud about , which will make it all the more sweeter , when champions are tacked onto our history page this year,.
We as fans deserve it nothing more will do , but over 20 clubs and fans in this league could say the same,
we are far and away the biggest club in this league, and over half in the one above , but when we get promoted I want the players to know that they've earned it , and prepare themselves , for the battles in the league above ,
No disrespect to any of the teams that have gone up since we've been in this league ( excluding the pigs ) but only 1 has really pushed on .

We are not going to win every game we play in this league, we are going to lose to some teams that in our opinion we should beat, look at the two games we have lost, gillingham still top of the league, bury not lost now in 15 games, we will win enough games and acquire the points we need to go up IMO, early days yet.

Somewhat dismissive of several teams doing ok since going up like Wolves, Brentford, Charlton and even the pigs finished top 12 last season.

Seeing some of the results yesterday , it is going to be a topsy turvey league . The only way we do not join the rest of them , and be topsy turvey , is to gain consistancy . Have we the talent , focus , commitment , mentality , to acheive that - only time will tell . We all hope so.

That's true Pete , but only one has really pushed on , Wolves you would expect to be there or there abouts ,
the rest Brentford, Charlton, good middle of the road solid clubs who I think would be happy to still be in the championship, come seasons end .
The " pigs " I will give nothing but abuse , and don't give a fuck where they finish , my main gripe is they are in a league above .

It depends what you mean by "kicked on".
Brentford had an excellent season last year.
Not every club will go up and then fight for promotion straight away.
The way we work would mean we certainly wouldn't do that.
The chsnpionship is like a mini premier league now where you need to invest heavily to be at the top.

Of the 9 teams that have gone up , won't include last seasons 3 , 2 have been relegated , 1 twice, 1 promoted, another 1 in playoffs who M-boro wiped the floor with, wolves got close , rest have treaded water.
In our first year in the wilderness the teams that went up , have done nowt special, Bournemouth in 2012 went up and have kicked on .
We are playing one of 2012 's promoted teams in a few weeks .
Take a year to get your feet under the table , unless your Southampton, who went into admin in this league , become debt free then walk through two divisions .
Swansea took 10 yrs to go from 4th to top table , spanking us 4-0 in a cup game on the way .
That's kicking on .
You'd have to be lucky or poxed , to get back to back promotions , and no I agree at this moment in time we ain't good enough .

But we're 50% short of a back four.

Seriously?
My evidence is the fact that we've sold our best player every year for the last 5 years and haven't adequately replaced them.
It's the 'does bugger all' bit which I question. You're now saying we have done something, but not adequately. So which is it? Nothing or something?

Do you think NA did bugger all in the window, or do you think he tried as hard as he could to bring in the right replacements?

Ah, you're going with the semantics of what I put rather than the actually, very valid wider point.

We've certainly got nowhere near close to finding adequate replacements for the players we've let go, despite being told all the money was available.

I've no idea why this is, have you?
