The Loan Window

Hold on a minute, not getting the must have player were chasing in the transfer window because of some last minute hiccup.
Instead of signing the next on the list keeps chasing said player, hoping to sign him in the loan window .
Then deciding not to sign him in this loan window because he would have to leave in January, but if we sign him on loan later we could keep him for rest of season,
If
A/ He'll come
or
B/ His club don't have any injuries ...

Anybody else thinking - Dee jar voo here ?.........:(

Dee jar voo indeed Sandy.......all this careful planning about who and when, are points gained now worth less than at any other time of the season? I sometimes think that it's possible to overthink this. Get a run going, build that confidence, and when the likes of Brayford and Done are ready to resume business the spirit within the team will be sky high.

The way to get the most games out of a loanee would be to get them on the morning of 26th Sep (Donny @ home). 93 days takes us to 28th Dec (Bradford @ home). If we wanted to then make it permanent we could sign them on new years day in time for the next match.

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that the 93 days include the first and last days. So:
September 5
October 31
November 30
December 28

= 94.

I'm pretty sure that when SemiPro brought in the admirable Craig Beattie we "sent him back" to his own club for a few days so he could "play" at Wembley. I also remember us all getting really concerned about it....

Silent Blade? Darren?

Yes, I remember that but cant remember when was the few days that we sent him back to Palace. Not many realised it at the time. I think SUFC had to make a statement to say that Beattie is eligible to play at Wembley

If it was a last minute hiccup how would we have time to sign the next on the list?

I suspect a lot of our problems in the past have been, '1 is too expensive, 2 won't come, 3 is overpriced so we've got you 4'.

Let's wait until October before we start saying 'same owd, same owd'.

Have I missed something because, unless I'm reading this thread wrong, it sounds like we've decided not to sign Burn (who I presume was the must have we were chasing) on loan. I've checked the web site, the star, and BBC and can't find any statements. Would be surprised if we have but if he's refused to come then not much we can do about it - or are we jumping to conclusions because the window has been open for 2 days and he's still not here?

yes you missed the bit where we wait a few days so that when we sign him he doesnt go back to Fulham just before the new year
its a timing issue so he is here for more games if we sign him on friday 25th he stays here due to loan window rules

25th? That has him going back before our game on the 28th!

It's 93 days, not three months, three days...

no we sign him on the 25th of this month then its 93 days till dec 29th ,

25-30 Sept inclusive: 6 days
October: 31 days
November: 30 days.

That's 67 days, leaving us 26 to spare in December. He plays Boxing Day then off home for New Year.

27 September is the day.

was unaware of the new sept 31st introduced this year
so the add the first and last
was unaware of that
30 minus 25 was 5 when I was at school, I see where the confusion lies

he does say inclusive....

which means 25th, 26th 27th, 28th 29th & 30th (which is 6 days) as the day the loan is completed on counts as a full day whether done at 8.30am or 6pm ;) (although I believe it needs to be done before 1pm in order to play the following day.

Pity nobody thought to tell Beattie (C) that he was eligible to play that game. He redefined anonymity on a football pitch.

Not that surprising though. My recollection is that a few weeks previously we played Burnley and Carlisle had Hendo in his pocket and dealt with every long punt hit towards him.
Logic would suggest that if a big bloke who's job was to get on the end of long punts was unsuccessful in doing so, a smaller bloke would have even less success against the same defence. Therefore, it would have been sensible to try a different approach. Unfortunately our manager was a stupid punt.

Having already seen how pathetically inept Beattie was in his first spell, the only possible reason I could think of for having him back was to shift more of the 'Beattie' printed shirts that we'd had done for James Beattie.

In any event, like the rest of the midfield (honourable exception for Monty) and forward line, he completely failed to turn up at Wemberlee. Burnley weren't even any good FFS.
