Liverpool winger Adam Hammill is set for another loan move away from Anfield next season after holding talks with Rafa Benitez.

Hammill, who has returned to Anfield after a season-long loan spell at Southampton, is highly regarded by Benitez and the Liverpool coaching team.

Benitez has reassured Hammill that he figures in his long-term plans at Liverpool, but believes he would be best served by going out on loan again to gain some more first-team experience before making the step up to the Reds side.

A number of clubs north and south of the border have been alerted to the availability of Hammill with Championship newcomers Swansea exploring the option of a deal after missing out on his Liverpool team-mate Paul Anderson.

Plymouth, Sheffield United, Blackpool and Burnley are also ready to offer Hammill the chance to move to the Championship.

SPL side Aberdeen are hoping to lure Hammill to Scotland after he impressed during a loan spell at Dunfermline in 2007.

Hammill accepts that it will be best for him to go out on loan before establishing himself at Liverpool and the skilful midfielder is aware of interest from a number of clubs

I wouldn't write Cotterill of from this signing, correct me if I'm wrong anyone but I'm sure Hammill's a left winger?

maybe put pressure on wigan to sell cotts.

Apparently had his contract at udders cancelled. Saw one tweet speculating likely to be off to us or Wigan. Would provide another wide option to help cope with the loss of Murphy.

Erm think the reaction he'd get if he signed from me would be 'hmm k den'.

Did naff all at Rotherham on loan last season. Was great at Barnsley but hasn't really lived up to expectations since... Could perhaps be handy in league 1 though?

Seen him several times. Don't think he's the type of player to bring anything worthwhile to our game. It's not that he's a bad player, just not that good in my view.
We should be looking to add quality - unlike Clough's summer of ordinary purchases - so that we have at least two decent players in each position.

Did shite at Rotherham in Championship

Did well at Barnsley in League One

Where do we play? By your comment it sounds like you'd think he would be a good signing.

I was just clearly stating his performances elsewhere and comparing it to what he'd be like in our league.

Judging by Rotherham's bog standard league 1 side last year who edged to stay up, I wouldn't take Hamill. Like someone said earlier, he has the quality, but isn't one that fits into our squad.

Adam Hammil is nowhere near as good as Jamie Murphy, so where would the sense be in selling ("the easily replaceable, inconsistent") Murphy and replacing him with Hammil?

Isn't he? Hammill has always been in the championship - Murphy has never played in it.

Hammills a rotten egg apparently. Town look relegation fodder (particularly with Butterfield going), and if he ain't getting a look in there, it's hard to see it working here. My Town mate reckons he'll be lucky to get a decent League 1 side.

As of right now Jamie Murphy is a championship player and Adam Hammill is without a club seemingly deemed not good enough for a low end championship club. He's on his way to league one after proving himself not good enough... Murphy however is going the opposite direction.

Lad at work who's a Town fan has heard a rumour of Hammill linked with us... but like everything in this section take with a pinch of salt.

Heard on RS last night that he's out of contract in the summer. A Murphy replacement of sorts if we could tempt him away.

A player we should have been in for a few years ago.

That said he is still on the right side of 30 but I reckon he will renew his deal with Barnsley.

I saw him at Wembley on Sunday and he was easily the best player on the pitch.

Easily good enough for us - quick, skillful, creative, eye for a goal.

He's the reason the Dingles improved so much. After he re-signed for them their form has gone from relegation fodder to promo challengers.

We've gone from mediocre to slightly above mediocre

It shows what one good attacking winger/midfielder can do for a team in this division. If you want another example just look at Michail Antonio for Wednesday (who I desperately wanted us to sign). Or Jamie Murphy for Sheffield United. It's a tight division with a lot of poor teams. Just one star player can transform a team.
