McFadzean at left back against Swindon

I'm guessing that the selection pool for Scots U21s aint that great and that he will have been called up as a winger as opposed to a left back.
Even so, he's played most of his games at L2 level. Surely there's players in the SPL or Scottish championship who can play left wing? Or perhaps not, I watch the odd game but I'm not knowledgeable about the Scottish scene.
I hate criticising our young players but I just can't see what he's got. Someone can see it though as he keeps getting chances.

McFadzean was played at left back and found wanting. There was a hint if it against Newcastle but it was confirmed at Gillingham.

That said he did do one good thing that afternoon when he worked a bit of space and drilled a ball across their box.

I think it's becoming obvious that the step up from u21s to first team is generally too much even for the better players to make all in one go.

Essentially at u21s there's not the physicality of the professional game. It's not quite men against boys when they step up but it's not far off.

Some will adapt, but some I think need a stepping stone of loans.

That may be worth a thread.

Hang on Danny. If we don't sign a defender we not only can't get three points at Swindon but we don't want to?...

Give over.

We've had ample time to sign what we need. I'm not quite literally saying we dont 'want' the 3 points, that's obvious, but we haven't given ourselves the best chance possible of getting the 3 points. That much is true.

I know, I know, I know...

Would you rather sign an average player now for the sake of it, or sign a very good player next week?

Is there any that we're not?

Have patience, and a bit of trust, maybe we have a manager who knows what he's doing.

I'm not saying we don't, I love Adkins. But we all know we need a defender, with our current crops defensive record at the county ground it's little wonder half of us think we need reinforcements.
I just feel like we're going down there hoping that they'll have an off day, and I don't like that one bit. I really thought after tuesday, or even before, we'd have had someone snapped up to help Edgar out.

We'll certainly need them for next week when Edgar is in Canada anyway.

I get that we need players to come in, but I dont get the panic and impatience due to the fact we're playing chuffing Swindon Town.
