McFadzean at left back against Swindon

I really can't understand why McFadzean is still at the club, when he got locked up after his city centre altercation, Utd should have shown him the door.

Not good enough by a long way to ever force his way into the starting eleven and unlikely to improve now.

Let's hope we can get someone in before Satdi :(
Keeping the rubbish McFadzean on is a ploy to help us try and get the good McFadzean signed (a la Quinn brothers)

Hardly have the best of records at Swindon
And weMrw going with a defence nearly as bad as last time by the looks of it...

Every need to be worried.

There's a reason we're all craving defensive reinforcements
Probable defence of Freeman Edgar Collins and McEverly. Why the panic.

Let' over react. It's the Blades fans way

Sounds as if Adkins was pleased with Alcock tonight so one potential defensive change could be Alock in at RB, shift Freeman over to LB for this match and leave Mcev & Edgar in the centre.

Bryne for me like to cut inside more so than beat his man down the by-line so having a right footed defender in the left back position may be the way to go.... however probably not, if Bryne is on form he'll d!ck whomever we pick for the LB spot.

No problem with McEveley left back v Swindon. He's a better full back and defender than Harris. Doesn't always equate that a lightening quick winger will skin a dog slow full back. McEveley will have to be on his game, but if he gets stuck into Byrne, makes sure he doesn't give him space and gets his foot in, he'll be ok. Harris was awful against him because he gave him the freedom of the park in both games.

We have NO idea how long Collins is out for
Besides, he was part of the Swindon mauling pt 1 last year

There's a reason people are 'over reacting' as you put it

Agreed but WHY the fuck not just let him run through and score? You've got a chance to establish yourself in first team football and you could've chucked it away in the last minute of a carling cup game we've already lost. Crazy.

Tricky one really. If he lets him through, I imagine Adkins and the fans would go mental hes just been allowed to waltz through unchallenged. But now he'll be suspended when the game was already lost. A double shaft.

Adams has a big part to play on Saturday ,all part of the learning curve for him.

i can't see why everyone is in a tizwaz about this byrne guy.. he's not 'that' good or he'd be at Real by now. he had so much space and the fullback had so little protection when we played them both times i could have beaten him from there
don't panic Mr Mainwairing and all that:rolleyes:

I reckon it'll be Mcgahey at CB with Mceverley at LB if Collins isn't fit and we sign nobody. McFadz out of position against Byrne will be horrific.

Exactly what I said in another thread – based on tonight, this would seem logical. Though suspect it won't happen based on way Adkins talked about his fitness in post-match interview, probably too much to expect two games in a short period of time so soon after returning from injury.

Worrying that that's the case. I hope Collins is back or else we're fucked.

Exactly. It's beyond me. He was given acres to run at Bob and caused him all sorts of trouble, he even scored a hat trick in their first game of the season but he's not scored since.

This rampaging Swindon monster played Southend on Satdi and they won...1-0.

It's a big test but they'll have to worry about us as well.

Just had a listen to the interview too now. Maybe it'll be Alcock at RB and Freeman at LB with McEverley and Edgar at CB if Collins isn't back and McGahey is rested. Alcock won't last the full 90 I imagine so maybe McGahey will come on later, moving Freeman back to RB and McEverley to LB. That's probably a few too many changes in an area you'd want to be consistent throughout the game but I can't think of many other options at this moment.

I really don't see any advantage in making so many defensive changes. McFadzean did ok against Newcastle and Hull in pre-season. He apparently was reasonable again tonight.

It's not ideal having to play him against Byrne but surely less risky than moving 2 or 3 players around when we're trying to keep a more consistent team.

I would also stick with Adams rather than Woolford. He could help to nullify Byrne's threat simply by forcing him back on the defensive. They won't be worried about Woolford getting in behind them but you can't say that about Adams.

I think we might as well just go for it. J.Wallace to replace Baxter and McFadzean replacing K.Wallace being the only changes from our usual line up.

I would be tempted to stick Freeman at LB, whilst his weaker side he has covered there reasonably well before and he at least has some pace.

Alcock seems to be back to fitness so could do a job at RB.

Byrne has started the season in a slightly different position, playing the `number 10` role, hence his hat trick v Bradford City.
Swindon will have noted our left back woes though, so I wouldnt be surprise to see him revert back to the right on Sat.
Fingers crossed someone buys him Friday!

Sod it. Attack is the best form of defence. Get this on your both teams to score coupon, an absolute banker!

Byrne is the reason Swindon are top of the league and won all their games by 5 goals this season with him setting up 10 and scoring the other 10 himself.
