Just had a sneaky look on blades mad and a poster refers to Woodward as part of the Holy Trinity, I'm guessing the other member is obvious but who was the third?
And so I don't get a one word answer for not knowing my history well enough, have we come close to having 3 special players in one team since that, that could be put on a pedestal in that way?
Dean, Agana...
Borbokis, Fjortoft...
Brown, Tonge....?

That last pairing is a bit sycophantic, isn't it?

I've tried to reply as soon as possible to show I clearly didn't need to google the word sycophantic...
I suppose it is, but in my life time that's the closest I could come up with.

2. Deane
3. Ndlovu

1. I'm not sure as I was a bit too young. Was there any/enough overlap with Agana to go for Hodges?

Dane Whitehouse
Carl Bradshaw
Mitch Ward

Three of our own. And they all hated the pigs.
I would have never put those three that high, but thinking about it you're absolutely right. Any idea who was the third in the Woodward era?

We might end up with a new holy trinity this season.

Our own SAS terrorising the opposition.
Sharp, Adams and Sammon looked highly promising on Saturday.

Mick Jones before he was sold and Billy Dearden afterwards. The holy trinity being the source of our goals..

Was Woodward the greatest Blade never to be sold?? I'm struggling to think of anyone up there who we haven't flogged on...

Sorry to go back in the mists of time but, IMO, The greatest blade not to have been sold was the greatest ever to play for United JIMMY HAGAN:):)

Got to be Hagan but did we sell Nudger?

If we didn't could you imagine hanging on to the England captain these days?

Me Dad's fave, was Hagan.
I'm too young for that era  but I bought that book about Hagan (written by former forum member Broomhill Blade) for him earlier this year and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Brought back a load of memries.
I did have the pleasure of watching Woody and Currie and the gang from about '72-3 onwards when I was initiated into the fold so I am extremely lucky on that count.
Only Edwards, Deane and Agana have come close since then - close but not quite (Deano, maybe)

I knew woodhouse wouldn't play for them, I didn't know Dean turned them down too. I only read about Hagan refusing to go to Hillsborough a few months back and I was chuffed to bits. That's one way to from legend to HERO!

The trio (I guess!) is Woodward, Currie and Colquhoun, or so the chant would suggest.

Who's old enough to remember Freeman, Hardy and Willis? :D
The like is for Coloquhoun being in the trinity, the only Willis and Freeman I know is the keeper and the pirate wing back we've got now.
