Just maybe Murphy hasn't joined the love in for Adkins and after been played the first half out of position at Gillingham thinks sod it if they are prepared to sell I might as well go

Remember it could be argued that Clough got him playing at his best and perhaps he hasn't got the same rapport with the new man
Or maybe at 25 he feels he should take his chance playing at a higher level and has been offered double what he's on now. That would do it for me, if I was at a club I had no prior allegiance to.
Hughton's a good manager at championship level and Brighton are a well funded club. He has a reasonable chance of playing for them in the PL during his time there and the opportunity to earn big money before he retires.

Ah ok. I'll give you £10 for a £1 lottery ticket as long as it's the winning one.

Let's not pretend that keeping Jamie Murphy is anywhere near a guarantee of promotion.

UTB

Won't losing him make it less likely though?

If it has been done for anything under £2m, i'm with the one's saying we should have kept him.

£2.2 rates him pretty much the same as Harry.

I would probably take the money - but there again, we always do. And therein has been our problem since I first went to BDTBL in 1960. Nothing ever changes. Sell the good stuff and collect shit.

2.2m if true is a good deal and won't harm us as much as having no centre halves, perhaps this will allow us to plug the gap at the back?

I predict we will get the game out of the way then announce Murphy has been sold. Our board aren't so stupid to announce it before we play a home game.
But Brighton don't give a fuck.

Things will get heated if we get many more of these girly hysterical posts. Murphy will play and we will win tomorrow, FFS get your s**t together and go to the game positive
I assume you don't bother doing the lottery.

He's gone. Apparently at his own request and against the wishes of the Club. As always, if they want to go, you can't keep them.

Phipps on Murphy sale
The official confirmation is now out. Jamie Murphy is moving to Brighton. For all Blades, I think, this will come as a blow. We all know Jamie is quality. He was our player of the year last season for very good reason. Jamie joined us in January 2013 (during the Danny Wilson era) and has appeared in most matches since that time, bagging 21 goals.
Throughout the close season and until very recently, when we received a written transfer request from Jamie, we planned to keep Jamie in the side. The board and manager were of one mind on this topic and the owners had made a special provision to ensure the finances were there to keep Jamie, despite offers coming in for his services from leagues above.
There were, however, always two contingencies pursuant to which we would potentially need to consider a transfer: One, if the new gaffer decided he did not want him; and, two, if the player asked to go. Unfortunately, contingency two has materialised. We naturally have sought to dissuade Jamie from his desire to go, but is clear to us Jamie knows what he wants and is resolved to play in a league above where his candidacy for a spot in his nation's side might be stronger. No one can fault Jamie for that. In fact, I am proud of him.
Jamie leaves Sheffield United with a great feeling for the Club. He tells me he has had a very positive experience with us. We all know he gave us 100% in every match he played in. For my part, I am very grateful to Jamie for his service to our Club. I hope you will join me in wishing Jamie the very best of good luck going forward -- Once a Blade, always a Blade!
Consistent with established policy at the Club, we are not talking about the terms of the transfer. For those who wonder, yes, consistent with our existing practice, the proceeds of this transaction are applied to first team football.

"Once Jamie expressed a strong desire to talk with Brighton and made his wishes known to both the Board and the Manager, the Club reluctantly accepted Brighton's offer for Jamie's registration."

Perhaps explains his performance on Saturday in that case.

Explains why he was left out against Morecambe.
