From Adkins interview already discussed - link below - but maybe worth a separate thread:

Alcock - training
Kennedy - knee - training, might play an u21s in 2 or 3 weeks
Baxter - back training, didn't comment on availability for weekend (maybe not wanting to give the opposition useful information)
JCR - hamstring - back training, lively character, "works his socks off", encourages young players
Harris - pelvic injury - broke down early pre-season, had an injection, still 4 to 6 weeks off training
Brayford - leg brace off (was that the reason for the tweet - we all got excited about)
Done - got over pelvic injury from last season (I thought we'd been told it was shins), but broken collarbone means 3 months
Coutts - knee from last year - injections and corrective rehab, "a way off", not done pre-season (which those of us who thought he could be very good said was all he needed - so next season: Look Out)
Flynn - achilles from last season, other twinges, - might join training next week, another good character
McGahey - raised by Adkins but wasn't followed up on

(Good straight questions by Jonathan Buchan.)

Looks like in training can mean anything from available to 2 or 3 weeks away.

My first thought was Harris is the main issue. McFadzean looked lost against Gillingham - though not directly responsible for any goals, Kieron Wallace has apparently done well so maybe he'll play there, but Freeman, Collins, Edgar, McEveley would at least have specialists in each position wouldn't it?

We need more players

Very informative interview. Not before time with regards to some of the injured players.
Not sure whether Buchan prompted the outpouring of injury updates or. If Adkins just launched into it.
Good summary anyway WHF

All very worrying. The priority must be to 'keep in touch' with the leading teams, as it doesn't look like we'll be able to field a full-strength team for a couple of months (some of the 'in training' players will have the inevitable setbacks). Some movement in the transfer window is imperative.

Coutts: Great signing!

Did he not come to us injured anyway?

A lot of those injured are from last season so it makes you wonder about the medical team down at the lane, we know Clough made Flynn's injury worse by not taking him off when he could hardly walk, did he make things worse by playing players who were clearly not 100% fit Coutts and Wallace spring to mind ?

He never played Wallace!

And didn't done of our fans Moan that clough wasn't playing done for longer when he looked fine for 20 mins? Some even said Clough didn't like him because he didn't start him!

That's the feel i got from the interview, frustration at injuries not being looked after last season.

Considering who is available, I would go with that back 4 - and if they stay fit, would play them regardless in the next 5+ games so they get used to one another.

A settled back 4 brings the best out of a GK (Howard for me) and they all get used to each players strengths and weaknesses.

If we are to make anything of this season, we must get a settled back 4.

Some short term loans would be nice. I know they've been used badly before, but this really is the type of situation where they can be useful.

The number of injuries we have, given that the team did not play competitively for almost 3 months, is absolutely staggering.

I wonder if Coutts will play this season?

Forgive me I'm sure I saw Wallace turn out a few times (9 Lge 1 FAC 2 LC) last season maybe I was dreaming or maybe you wasn't at the games or it could be you will say anything to defend your hero Negative Nigel.

He certainly played some part but he was never in a position to play a run of games

If anything can be laid at Cloughs feet is that he was very cautious with players

I think it likely that Coutts played all his games for us and indeed was signed by us with a condition which might well stay with him forever. The lingering condition results from his big injury and Clough was happy to have him in the team with restricted mobility. His type of player does not need to be scampering around at 100mph but the team set up has to cater for his role. Without that luxury the lad is unfit to contribute. If the latest attempts are an effort to get him fully fit then keep our fingers crossed for the lad.

Wallace admitted in a recent interview that he played on against Doncaster despite getting injured almost straight away because his family had come to see him and he did not want to disappoint them.

That was an extremely stupid thing to do with his injury history.

Didn't the Beard also briefly play on against Swindon, or am I making that up? Caught up in the moment players aren't the best to judge what's best long term.

True. The lot want clearing out and replacing with this (she can look at my tweaked muscle anytime...)

And in case anybody thinks I'm being sexist, I prefer her in this outfit. :)

I could be wide of the mark but I get the impression that if not 100% fit then Adkins won't consider you.

A big step forward if true, fed up of seeing crocks under perform due to being rushed back too soon.

Could it be because he's a physio?

It's probably as much that he's not an self-obsessed idiot, to be honest.
