The opening day of this years Premier league had just 88 home grown players, the lowest ever apparently. Another demonstration of the sad decline of the game yadda yadda... Who gives a fuck... They've made their bed etc...

The big thing though is that 5 of these were ex blades

In many ways pleasing to see for the academy, it shows that we can breed defenders for the top division

We just need to start keeping them and using them to move us forward.

Neither was Francis, he started at Forest as a youngster and Jags didn't come until he was 16 years old i think but the other two were ours and i'm not sure that Swiss was entirely making the point that all the five were ours, i could be wrong and probably will be

You're right (for once ) It was more about the development of the players, coming through the club.

Perhaps Morgs should go and work with the England setup, each and everyone of those players has played alongside Morgs, either at centre half or outside him at Fullback.

Are there any other ex Blades currently in the Premier League, i see Lowton is at Burnley now (probably his level in fairness)
