what a waste of a day and what a waste of money....stuck on the M25 for so long that a 70 mile journey turned into 3hrs 15 mins in the car!! An auspicious start to the day...
At least when we got there, parking was easy in Railway Street and only £1.40 for 4 hrs and only a ten minute walk from that lovely ground the Priestfield Stadium.
The announcer was a hoot.....food for all tastes and palates, lots of choice....yeah, right...
As for the match...
Long: shocking......couldn't kick properly, was stuck on his line repeatedly, horror error on the first goal, partly to blame on the second , where was he on the third? Made one good stop...compare him to Nelson in the Gills goal :1/10
McFadzean: repeatedly skinned, misread balls frequently and attacking-wise, poor too...not much positive I am afraid 2/10
Collins: oh dear.....I thought he would be better than what we had last year but ....headers all over the place, poor positioning, had a go at Long , slow......2/10
Skipper: as bad as Collins....and with his head down when the third and fourth went in...he is supposed to be the leader ..very poor game 2/10
Freeman: what was up with him? Kept losing control of the ball, was defensively weak and attacking wise added little 3/10
Woolford: did he do anything? Looks slow, did not add owt....2/10
Baxter: a couple of nice passes but of no danger, skinnier than last season , strolls around...we need more in the middle than he gives 2/10
Murphy: it was a bit windy at times and he was clearly struggling to stand up...meshed tackles, was easily nudged off the ball and missed a a decent chance...no steel or desire 2/10
Basham: was hardly in the game, tried to do a few things in attack but he was poor too...lack of heart or just his teammates? 2/10
Sharp: started ok, scuffed a shot when he made room for himself, poor try at the end...will have better days 3/10
Che: tried and had a few dubious tackles on him, started off ok them got dragged down with the rest 4/10
Sammon: hopefully he can play better than this....not impressed 2/10
Reid: as much as I laughed when we brought him and Scougall on when we were losing the midfield fight, he did well...showed some desire, got some balls in.....5/10
Scougs: hardly had a touch n/a
All in all a team without desire, fight, skill, organisation...I could not believe what I was watching..Gillingham had players who wanted the ball, who could dribble and beat their man, they were strong, always first to the ball....why can't our players be like that ? They looked dangerous every time they came forward.....and Bradley Dack....Baxter should take a look at how he played....very very busy, in attack and defence, good vision, and great goal...outstanding! Quite rightly clapped by our fans when he scored.
We were dire and I won't apologise for booing this time.......I am still shaking my head in disbelief. We need a lot of new players in key positions and WE fans know where those are, don't we

Yeah but apart from that, did you enjoy it?

Nige will sort it. We've just signed Edgar.

Have faith.

*looks at empty bottle of turps*

I pretty much agree with that assessment Bladesman. Very poor indeed.

I also parked at the Railway, a short walk from the ground. Strange sort of place, better than I imagined it would be and not terribly hot on the scaffolding stand.

Catering and refreshments crap as usual. Queue too long to be bothered to get a beer or pie.

Signed who?? Not seen owt....

What Makblade sed

Apparently, this is the new start to the new season. Edgar is a highly rated centre back. Nothing about paying off the dross we have, mind. It scares the shit out of me that sometime in February, on a crucial six pointer Tuesday night with the rain siling down and the floodlights on at BDTBL, we may have to rely on Freeman - Collins - McEveley - McFadzean again due to suspensions and injuries.

all teams need a leader , a hard nosed twat prepared to kick ass

we are in dire need of some psycho prepared to abuse our set of whimps

But what about the beer?

But what about the beer?

Beer down south is truly awful. I can honestly say i have never ever had a decent pint anywhere south of Nottingham!

Drank in the Crown in Rochester last Saturday, nice pub but the clowns there ruined all of Sharpes Atlantic, Doombar and the Bombardier. It was that bad i nearly ordered a pint of Carling!!
