If Nigel Adkins thought that taking over the helm and steering United to promotion would be a 'stroll in the park' then he certainly had a reality check at Gillingham yesterday.
He came in with a reputation of success (everyone seems to have overlooked the fact that he was sacked from his last job at Reading) - He had publicly stated that the team was not good enough in his Q&A sessions and then proceeds to strenghten the team with a has been centre forward that has failed twice at the club, a never will be centre forward that couldn't get a game with Derby County and a midfielder released by Millwall that isn't anywhere near as good as existing midfielders at the club.
I wasn't there yesterday due to my involvement with the summer game, but, having seen the goals and listening to reports it was the usual enept, gutless performance by players with no heart, no passion and lacking the vital ingredient to be winners .......BALLS !!!
It was clear to the vast majority of fans that have no suffered so many years in the Third Division that Long, Collins, McEverley and McFadzean are not up to the job - People who were last season calling for the reinstatement of Collins clearly had very short memories - Not only is he a woeful player with the turning circle of the QE2 but totally bad for team spirit by bollocking all around for his failures!
Mr Adkins has made a statement by making McEverley the captain and by signing Billy Big Boots - Your honeymoon period is now well and truly over Mr Adkins - You now have to start delivering the goods - Our 'Fans' can be rather critical if you don't come up with the goods - If in doubt why not give Mr Clough a call - he will tell you what it's like !!
It's got to start getting better by Tuesday - if not, there will be one or two on Saturday that will certainly let you know about it !

So if we lose at Morecambe on Tuesday people (surely not you Fiery?) are going to start verbally slagging Adkins off on Saturday? That'll help. Fantastic.

No, I certainly wouldn't my friend but I would bet on many of the home crowd turning on him next Saturday if they did lose to Morecambe !
We do seem to attract the moaners and whingers who soon jump on the bandwagon if things are not going to plan !
Last season before the PO second leg at Swindon the guy next to me was moaning about Clough and most of the players being 'Wankers' for 15 mins prior to kick off and then walked out when we went 0-3 down - their the type of 'fans' we don't need !
