Hmmmmmm... Sounds a bit Porterish...

Still let's see him first.

Don't you think it's the same when any player moves though? The previous clubs fans dissing that particular player, but when he was playing for them, the fans were content with him. Or is it that its just the slashers come to the top of the pile...

Anyway positive Nige will train him to fit in ;)

I don't actually, certainly not for us. As soon as we sell a player they see at least a 50% overall improvement and become world beaters, if you read most of the posts.

Just the type of player we need up front with Sharp. athletic, chasing everything, gets in good positions. Not a natural goalscorer but that's the role of Sharp and McNulty.

We've seen over the last few years that however nice the football is at times you sometimes need a player who's going bang the door down...

Welcome to BDTBL Conor.

I saw Salmon play in March for Rovrum.

Have to say I was impressed.

Vastly superior to Higdon, whom I assume will now make way.

.....and cue Pinchy in 5....4....3...2...1

I actually like a big man up front (careful now) and I don't like playing with a lone striker, certainly not at this level. I have advocated COG long and hard. Sammon seems to have some of the same qualities, though maybe not a good first, or even second, touch. On the other hand it seems his work ethic is beyond question and he won't permit any cigar smoking or slipper-wearing by the centre-back [McNulty please note...] and he does, contrary to some suggestions on here, have a bit of pace.

What I do hate is when teams use a "target man" as an excuse to lump it up front to the big guy and "play" from there. It doesn't have to be that way.

The quote about him making space for the nippy players pleases me. If they stay, Connor could be the perfect man to have for Murph & Done to rattle in 20 odd a piece next season. I'd hope Scoog's would have a better time of it too! And what about Che?

I'm starting to get excited.

I'm one of those who wasn't excited by the thought of Sammon, or Sharp, signing for us. But...it's happened, a done deal, and we have Done, McNulty, Adams, Higdon, Murphy, even Diego to throw into that mix.....so I'm waving a white flag of surrender and saying prove me wrong, which I sincerely hope they do.

Well done Adkins, the moaners on here wanted signings and I suspect there's more to come......we're now in with a shout of finally getting promoted, about time too! UTB

Wouldn't it be pretty alarming though if posters didn't want any signings, after finishing 5th, 20 points behind 2nd last season?

Trouble is, the over-eager contingent wanted Adkins to sign a few days after he became manager. Hardly a basis for sensible recruitment. So any inference that I was criticising the need for signing misses the point.....it's always about the right signings, not signings for the sake of signing.

Before I start, to suggest fans wanted signings after a few days is bordering on a little bit of a silly thing to say in my view.

So we have established posters on here wanted signings, and now you say you felt the need for signings also, but for those to be the right signings?

How do you know that the other posters don't want the same thing as you, the right signings? Because they do. I suspect everybody wants the right signings, any suggestion to think otherwise is quite simply ludicrous. So why disregard other fans need for signings as 'moaning', and your need for signings as getting 'the right signings'?

I saw him for Derby a few times. What you probably won't like is that he lacks a bit of composure and you're right in saying his first touch isn't always the best.
What you'll like is his effort commitment and movement. I imagine he's horrible to play against. He'll chase everything down, go for every aerial challenge, he's big, brave, fit and honest.
He's certainly different to anyone we have already. He'll get pelters on here at times because he'll miss chances but will probably end up being a cult hero, if it works out for him.

My god man, you do employ double dutch, don't you? To correct your first line, I mentioned making sure that those posters who clamoured for immediate signings were left to their own imaginations, so please don't use my words partially as if that's what I said, otherwise you'll end up as the forum's Orwellian scribbler.

As for your second paragraph, again, I said nothing of the sort, but please don't allow facts get in the way of your fevered imaginings. Of course we all want the right signings, but to repeat, a clamour for signings the moment the manager has got his feet under his desk should be ignored, as they appear to have been.
Hope that's clear and that you won't confuse my words with your need to misinterpret.

I would be surprised if he gets a starting place in any game this season, lovely pace, but not good enough in my opinion.

True. A lot of fans miss the 'bigger picture'. Their current darling - Will Hughes - has been treading water for about 3 years but the crowd stick with him, hoping he'll rediscover his previous form. He won't. He needs a change of club. (same with Ross Barkley at Everton. Stagnating.)

As for Sammon, could be playing under a muppet manager (McClaren) affected his play? Yes, I'm sure I've seen that somewhere...

Same for ,me pal. not a fan of players returning (especially when they did nothing for us in the past) and a Derby fan in my local boozer has been saying, since Nigel Clough arrived at BDTBL, "..just wait and see, you will get Connor Sammon at some point, along with Jake Buxton, Sammon is terrible but Cloughie loves him for some reason.."

Just got to hope that Positive Nige brings out the best in both of them.

That's just too polite IIYB

I would of gone with "English, Motherfecker! Do you speak it?"

:D

Double dutch? Coming from the one who spouts consistent nonsense whenever he's pulled up on something in order to somehow wriggle out of it and save further embarrassment.

Thing is Pierre, in the written word I do try to make myself understood, even if others disagree. I think that's the least that should be expected.....but face to face, now that's a very different kettle of fish, and of course it all depends on who the other party is and what I feel they are deserving of.
