Don't tell clough,

Adams playing as well 45 min, using 2 different team each half, well they have had a hard summer.;)

Jumped into a few good challenges today, thought it looked like they'd told him to take it steady though.

Our best player. Everybody should have everything crossed.

If he does stay fit the irony will not be lost on Clough devotees though. I reckon Higdon is another good player too with plenty to offer if only he can get fit.

That fella Campbell-Ryce can play, so can Collins, so can Alcock, McNulty, Adams. Long?

Who says we don't have any new signings?

Me and my mate were literally wincing every time he jumped into a tackle or stretched for the ball yesterday. He never stopped working yesterday, like he had missed playing football for a year and wanted to do everything in one go

Well, I hope you're his surgeon.

Fingers crossed. A fit Wallace is our best midfielder and means less scrappy midgetry.

We have all been in football long enough to see a decent player and Wallace is one.
He also has youth on his side - if the kid was late 20's or early 30's he wouldn't have a prayer.

Think the club has been a tad too quick to get him back - quite understandable really because if he is as good as the "experts" make out then this could be on of the 3 or 4 links we need to get out (OF THIS SHIT DIVISION !!!!..........gawd it hurts to be here)

Agree with that. Higdon does have ability but he really needs to get out the traps quick and show consistently what he can do. The rest, think you are bang on.

He seems to think he is fitter at the moment. Only feeling the effects from not playing for a long time.

As will Michael Higdon.

This has intrigued me all preseason Matt. why do people think this? Surely it's just blind optimism that he will turn it round?

I'm fairly sure we all Agreed he was garbage last season. So, why would this year be different? I aren't having a go, I'm just wondering why so many people are so convinced he'll become some superstar this season.

Looks like a lumbering talentless striker on his way out the last time I saw him! Where's the evidence it will be any different this year?

Blimey, he hasn't played for seven months, how long does he need in your medical opinion? :-)

I have no idea what his state of fitness is, but I'm happy to accept that the club's medical staff know what they're doing, it's not like they're giving him a cortisone injection so he'll be OK for the FA Cup Final next weekend.

Not me. If you look back on posts last season, I stood up for him throughout. Our style of play under Clough didn't suit Michael Higdon. There is a player there, always has been. Put him in the correct setup and style and he is a great asset to us.

There probably is a player in there, the problem is that Higdon ate him!

What's his career injury record?

Putting it in vaguely sports science terms, I can't see how his tendons, ligaments, and muscles will be able to cope with accelerating and decelerating that mass over "the demands of a long season".

Big boned.

Reminds me a.bit of Flintoff and his bowling action. Thunderous.

Mickey Quinn? Fastest player in the box over two yards. He was carrying a bit of spare mass.

More generally, Alcock, McEv, Bob, Coutts and others have all played at Championship level so it's probably fair to say Clough didn't get the best out of them. If we just sorted out the CH situation I'd be pretty confident of a good season.

I can't remember which home game it was last season, but he ran the show for most of it. If he played over 46 games he would probably be our best player, however he will need some lady lucky to get half those.
