Not sure but I'd say coutts has split the crowd, I'd say he's a monty type player, who might I add I supported.
At least monty tried, I can't see coutts offering anything.Monty good but Coutts crap........says it all for me, thread over!
These fans who can see something in him which the rest of us can't really are in cloud cuckoo land.
If we get Coutts and Wallace fit with Basham we will have the best midfield in league one. One of Clough's failings was playing his favourites and one or two more players who were clearly not 100% fit which did neither them or the team any favours, I expect quite a few players to show a big improvement next season Coutts being one of them. Perhaps the OP was made when still under the influence of a few too many Carlings.
I don't remember that.I remember people slagging Kevin McDonald off n all ffs
Basham was decent but all three lack pace, athleticism, creativity and goals.
So you liked Monty but don't see anything in Coutts? Not sure but I'd say coutts has split the crowd, I'd say he's a monty type player, who might I add I supported.
I could see monty was giving it 100%, I don't see any positives from Coutts apart from some fans saying he COULD be a decent player, based on what evidence I'm not sure cos he's looked fucking awful I'm all the matches I've seen him in.So you liked Monty but don't see anything in Coutts?
People thought Murphy was poor for a long spell when he came. That's because he was. Then he stopped being poor, and people didn't think he was poor anymore. It was just that simple. None of this "never giving him a chance afterwards" existed.Coutts, Wallace, Basham and Cuvelier, would be great options to choose from for the CM spots. If they can all get and stay fit anyway.
Last season Coutts showed glimpses of being a good player, with his worst performances being when he first joined, when he was often played out of position as well, being stuck out on the right wing. From those first performances many fans decided he was poor, then never gave him a chance afterwards. As they do with many a player
Don't agree with this at all. If some fans don't see the talent and write players off they aren't correct and poor long suffering good guys when the player comes through, they're idiots.People thought Murphy was poor for a long spell when he came. Coutts had lots of detractors last season for no other reason than for the most part, he was fucking shite. There is no need to shift the blame onto the long suffering fans.
If his no show was due to recovery from injury then he'll demonstrate that this season, and we'll ALL be happy. And he'll still have been shite last season.

I can only assume from that comment you didn't see Coutts play in the last few games of the season or you wouldn't be talking such rubbish. At least monty tried, I can't see coutts offering anything.

They're unable to see ability unless it's so obvious everyone will think it. Judging a player means you need to be able see those who are overperforming, and won't maintain it, as well as those who have the talent but haven't realised it.
This would be the type of fans who were attacking Basham last season and would have hounded him out given half a chance, same with Murphy and countless others.
If they turn on a player through their ignorance then of course it's the fans fault. All players are human, go through peaks and dips in form and you need to tell the difference between that and a player being shit.
Agree with this point, football fans are too harsh when judging players. After Jamie Murphy's first few months here I think most of us agreed that he wasn't playing well. Loads of posters wrote him off at that stage. In my opinion the interesting debate back then wasn't if he was crap or not (that's just contradiction). The real debate should have been "does Murphy have the potential to perform better and what could be done to realise that potential?"
A few general things to consider:
- Is the player still developing?
- Is the player still recovering from an injury?
- Is the player adapting/settling?
- Is the player playing in his favoured role?
- Is the player playing in a balanced side with complementary skills?
- Is the team settled?
- Which tactical tweaks could help?
- Will replacing other team members make the player fit in better?
We should be more careful about describing players like crap, especially when it comes to new arrivals, and in times when we're struggling as a team.
Coutts is a proper footballer - Something Mr Carling Blade is probably not used to !
The original post really sets the tone !
New Season, New Manager same old negativity !!!

I saw him in all home games and away at Orient, I can only describe those performances as poor, well below the standards I'd expect.

His best games for us were Bristol City and Barnsley away.
