CLOUGH,S LEGACY

I'm not convinced it was our best move. We've not really progressed. I don't know why Wilson was sacked when he was (there will no doubt be a reason). We were on a bit of a bad run, still in the playoffs (I think). Chris Morgan then took charge, a completely inexperienced manager to guide us through the playoffs. Morgs tried his best but well we didn't make it. Looking through my retrospectascope it just seemed an odd thing to do.

Weir might have worked but didnt, Clough the same, let's hope NA is the right one this time. I hope and think he will be.

So to answer your question directly, yes I would have kept Wilson on, and this season by the skin of his teeth I would have kept Clough on. Not complaining at all about the appointment of NA though.

Oh and I'm just a football knows nowt on a forum! :)

Mosbo. We all know nowt in reality the trick is to know that! I agree with what you say about Wilson. His sacking was ridiculous and the timing just woeful. Here's hoping we don't have this problem again any time soon.

What is this obsession with some people that Collins would have solved the defensive problems? There is evidence that nothing would have changed...
Twice we played at Swindon this season. Collins has played 1 of the 2. In BOTH games we conceded 5. Collins even gave away a penalty in the game he played in. Collins is partly why we are still in the 3rd Division! Collins was been getting gradually worse and worse the longer we stay in this league. He WOULDN'T have made the slightest bit of difference if he played against Swindon. So why must Clough have had to "sacrifice his pride" for a player who wouldn't have improved the situation?

What a top post !

So you'd rather have a trusty McEveley or an Alcock in there would you? Instead of a man that was at the heart of a season where we had one of the best defensive records in the division? Every man and his dog can tell you that Collins, albeit he's not the best, was certainly a better option than what we had going in to the Swindon game. Clough just chose to keep his pride intact, and let our oh so reliable defence let 3 goals in, in the space of 10 minutes. I could carry on but I think my point has been made very clear....
think this one clears up the matter Fiery

I doubt Collins would have lasted the full 90 minutes. Red card, around 60th for a second yellow as those tricky fuckers they had up front had him on toast.
If we'd taken an aerial battering then there's an argument that we should have played Collins.

And without knowing what the issue was between Clough and Collins it's difficult to say with certainty whether or not he was treated harshly.
