Diego may have a future under Adkins as I reckon he and Mr Clough didn't see eye to eye,we shall see

Diego and Adams for front two next season, that would be class. I can actually see those two flourishing under Adkins.

There is more than a hint from NA that the young man needs a change of attitude to earn an offer of a contract. Maybe he's got it as badly wrong as Nigel Clough....
My word, Nigel Adkins sure knows a player that's done fuck all, who he's propably never met. How can he have come up with this assumption pinchers? Clean slate and all that.

Obviously I can't know for sure and I wish them both well, but that pairing looks less like class and more like catastrophe to me.
Adams - Lots of interest in him from PL before we signed him and has shown some flashes of great ability but was unfortunately unable to fully show what he could do due to NC's man management.

Diego - Been called up to the Italy international squad with Juventus among other clubs looking to sign him up.

Would certainly be an easily taken catastrophe for me.

Bert's getting fed up with this, everytime he logs on here he gets redirected to Blades Mad.

Great idea. We'll get promotion easily with a couple of complete novices up front. I imagine NA has pencilled the pair in already. He'll have noticed Diego's prolific last ten games in particular.

I just hope he doesn't prefer Matt Done together with a newly recruited proper centre-forward. That would be madness.

If I was NA I would insist on DG signing for 2 years on reduced terms with an option of a 3rd year.

why?

well if DG does well then we have him under contract (or 3). If he does not then we only have another year.

Due to the apparent lack of suitors i think DGs options are limited & he will sign.

If you haven't realised that i'm speaking with a sense of hope and what could be rather than one of expectation then i suppose that's madness in itself. Obviously i'd expect NA to have Matt Done and a newly recruited centre-forward as the front two for the start of next season to make sure as does every blade but you can never tell how things will evolve over the course of the season. I would of thought you would already know that with your vast knowledge of the game. Seemingly not..

When you started your job pinchers was you given the chance to show what you could do or did they just say fuck that pinchers, he's a nob head? No, did they hellers like, you have to start somewhere mate so give him and Adams a chance eh.

I agree mate. Give them a chance. Under 21s and substitute appearances for now. The rest is up to them isn't it? If they impress, the first team awaits. I really hope they do, because they play for my team. Personally, and this is objective not anti-Diego, I think Che is more likely to grasp the opportunity.

I get the impression that NA won't put up with any bleating about 'not my position' or 'that's not my game' though. I'm sure you listened to his recent interview with interest?

Now that Springwatch has finished I believe Chris Packham is lined up to present Diegowatch...which I'm told may also feature a rare glimpse of the lesser-seen-Higgopottamus...nowt as yet mind...

Not sure if that would impact on our ability to claim anything for him if he signed elsewhere. I'm no expert here, but I seem to recall there being something around the contract must be on similar or improved terms to the expired deal. Could be horseshit, but it sounds reasonable.

As I have said previously, I would reduce his wages for acting like a twat.

And for all those eager to somehow punish the lad by reducing his wages you would also kiss goodbye to any compensation should he decline the offer of the reduced contract. Still probably worth it eh if it teaches him a lesson!

64.3 Subject to the provisions of this Regulation 64, any Club which makes an offer in accordance with Regulation 64.2 of reengagement to a Contract Player who is an Under 24 Player and which is in the opinion of the Board not less favourable than the Player's current contractual terms, shall be entitled to a Compensation Fee in respect of the loss of the Player's registration, should the Player sign for another Club. In order to comply with this Regulation, the annual value of the terms offered must be at least equivalent to the most favourable year's terms in the Player's previous contract.

Well, we wouldn't want to miss out on the Juve millions, would we?.....

They do want him, you know. Honest....

They have had since January to sign him, as has every other club in Europe (outside the UK) but he is still here.......... GERIMINFIRSTTEAM!

I get the impression that NA won't put full backs at centre back, and generally avoids the "that's not my position" argument by playing players in the correct position to begin with.

Nine pages so far on a bit part player who has yet to show he is capable of playing at L1 level and has yet to sign a contract with us until he sees what Juve have to offer. Must be a quiet close season so far.
:-)

Lets say we give him a years contract on a modest sum of £1000 a week - that's £52,000 a year.

Does anyone think we would get £52,000 if York or Northampton signed him?
